The Philips Senseo Coffee Machine brings a whole new meaning to the phrase 'the perfect cup of coffee'.

Because it uses unique Dough Egberts coffee pods (one per cup of coffee) that are specially designed for the Senseo machine you can have the perfect cup of coffee with the same great taste every time at the press of a button!

Dough Egberts is the number one roast & ground coffee brand in the UK and they have worked in conjunction with Philips to produce the perfect blend of coffee & machine for the perfect taste.

More than 10 years in development and market research, the patented Senseo coffee-brewing system automatically uses the right amount of water and ensures that the water passes through the Senseo coffee pods quickly and evenly, maximizing the flavour from the coffee bean. The brewing process guarantees a perfect cup of fresh coffee within a minute every time. Available in three colours: blue, black, and white.

Other Features

  • One or two cups of sensational coffee at the touch of a button at any time of the day. Make one four-ounce cup of delicious coffee in approximately 30 seconds two four-ounce cups or one eight-ounce mug in approximately 60 seconds.
  • The patented brewing system from Philips always uses the same amount of water and Senseo coffee pods. With the 1450-watt boiler, the water is always the correct temperature and filters quickly and evenly through the coffee.
  • The water reservoir is detachable, making it easy to fill under the tap. A full water reservoir holds five cups of coffee.

    I think these machines are fabulous. We have bought the aluminium one purely because it looks much sturdier than the plastic ones and it looks way cooler. We looked at a few different coffee machines before coming to our decision. Our friends have the ultra expensive Nespresso (more money than sense if you ask me!) and we particularly liked the Tassimo. The Tassimo has tea, coffee, chocolate pods but the quality of taste seemed less than that of the Senseo and kenko pods. When looking through many other reviews we found that this Senseo machine faired better for the price.

    You can use Senseo branded pods as well as Tesco's own brand and Kenko. The choice is good in terms of types and strengths of coffee. The machine itself is pretty easy to use and clean and comes with a single and double pod holder. The pods tend to make a good froth. As there is no milk frother or steamer attatchment we just simply fill half a cup with milk and bung it in the microwave for about 2 mins. If making more than one just use a jug of milk for about 3 mins in the microwave. As coffee makers go I like the simplicity...fill with required amount of water in the removable water container, press the on button, put your pod/s in, milk in microwave, cups under and when flashing light stops hit the one or two coffee's please button and hey presto instant coffee without the naffness of a jar! Works for me everytime.

    I have owned one of these Senseo coffee machines since Nov. 06 and have been extremely pleased with it. Very easy to use and easy to clean. No jug of coffee sitting stewing, just fresh full flavour coffee every cup.
    One pod per cup is great as in our house everyone has a different strength preference, and as you can buy decaf, mild, medium, dark roast and many more, everyone can have the one they enjoy the best.
    My daughter and son in law have just stayed with me for a week and on their return to Belgium discarded the filter machine which they have been using and went and bought a Senseo as they were so impressed with it!

    I reviewed all similar products and chose this one as it seemed good value and a brand that I recognised. The first one arrived and it didnt function properly so I had to return it. The replacement failed to operate on a single cup option and eventually gave up completely. I have now bought a Braun Tassimo which so far has not let us down. Although I prefered the coffee available in the Senseo - there is little point if the thing doesn't work!
