I have to admit, this is the first item I've owned that has this kind of aluminum body, but I'm a convert. It may look very different to the normal stainless steel or chrome that toasters are usually clad in, but it's undeniably stylish without being ostentatious and tacky.

Cool doesn't just describe the look. The body of the toaster seems to be constantly cool to the touch even after a few rounds of toast. Without the constant marking and scratches that other surfaces are prone to, it requires less cleaning and will probably last a good deal longer too.

The toasting action is top-notch, with a single versatile slot perfect for everything from normal bread to hand-cut 'doorstops' to pittas, and there are a variety of settings and modes to cope with anything you throw at it. Best of all is the digital display, giving you a running countdown and allowing you to grab your bread at its hottest.

Solidly built, attractive, effective - I've yet to find a single bad thing about this toaster. It may be pricy, but it should last you a long time.

Everyone else who's written a review seem to be pretty happy with this toaster's performance, but I'm not. Yes, it looks absolutely gorgeous, and it's incredibly easy to keep clean: it doesn't take any fingerprints whatsoever. But I have yet to get an evenly browned piece of toast from the thing - it's always much darker on the top half than the bottom. Another annoyance is that, by hitting the '+' button, you're supposed to be able to increase the brownness of the toast in six increments. At the second one, the bread is barely toasted, while at the third one, the toast (at least the top part of it) is already burnt. I can't imagine what the higher increments are there for - am sure the bread would be cremated. My colleague, who also purchased this toaster recently, has the exact same problem. I'm giving it two stars because beautiful design and form are worth something to me, but function comes first, and this toaster doesn't make the grade.

great looking toaster with a countdown timer, very well made with a good toasting selection and built in bagel warming rack, can also do one side only toasting and reheating of toast.
