Continuous steam up to 120 g/m
The Philips GC8323/02 has continuous steam output up to 120 g/min thanks to the small amounts of water that are pumped into the boiler each time, for perfect and fast crease removal. The optimal vent pattern gives the best steam distribution on the fabric for best results.
Steam boost up to 180 g/min
The steam boost function provides an extra-powerful shot of steam up to 180 g/min to easily remove even the most stubborn creases.
1.4 litre water tank
To make ironing effortless, you need a lot of steam. High steam output means a lot of refilling. This iron's extra-large 1.4 litre water tank reduces the need for refilling. Steam is forced through the hose into the iron under high pressure. (This means the whole iron becomes hot, so be careful when you are handling the iron).

SteamGlide soleplate

Save 20% energy and 40% water consumption by selecting the eco setting. The eco setting offers the most energy efficient way to obtain perfect ironing results.
Calc clean function
The calc clean function removes scale build-up and impurities from the iron. Regular calc cleaning is important to keep your iron functioning optimally with good steam output, especially if you are using hard water from the tap to fill the iron. If you see scales or white particles coming out of the iron, scale may have accumulated inside the steam tank. To clean the steam tank, calc clean by following the process in the instruction manual. If this happens frequently, you may need to calc clean (by rinsing the steam tank) more often than once a month.

Auto shut-off safety features
The ironing system's pressure and temperature are controlled by a presso-stat and a thermostat respectively. If the pressure or the temperature becomes too high, the boiler is switched off automatically. The boiler will cool down and the pressure will be released.

The separate water tank allows you to refill the water tank at any time, even during ironing, without waiting.

TIP- if you get one. Don't put it on a good table when you first try it in case you get the same problem. My table is ruined.
Contacted Telephones Online on Amazon Marketplace and they were very good at arranging for a replacement to be shipped and the damaged one collected at the same time. No problems at all. Tried the second one, tentatively, but this time it worked. And, I am impressed with the results.
The Philips is far better than the Morphy Richards was. Both are noisy as I think any Steam Generator is, but this is noisy in short bursts rather than every time you want steam. I don't find it too bad though and still iron while the kids are in bed on the same floor. It halves the time it takes to iron and the results are much straighter clothes than I could ever manage with a normal iron. I like the switch that enables you to keep steam on constantly as well as having a button underneath that you can keep pressed. I do knock the constant steam button while I'm ironing as it is very close to my fingers and it turns off and on in error but easily corrected.... Read more ›
Philips GC8323/02 Steam Generator Ironing System
This Philips iron has a detachable HUGE water tank - I think this is its main bonus point.
(Tefal had a small integrated tank)
The steam blast at 5bar and 2 selections is great.
(Tefal was limited in burst pressure)
I do feel - although have not tried - the 100% steam ON function would work
(Tefal could do this but would get tired and give up)
It doesn't iron any better than my old Tefal though... so is it overkill to have swanky high pressure boost? The theory is that the steam can penetrate better.
That ends the good news I'm afraid. Considering there's at least 3 years worth of product improvement/development - that's not enough considering the downsides!
First off, there's no way to strap down the iron - so it could be pulled/knocked off the cradle easily.
(Tefal had a clip & you could carry the iron/base all in one)
The cradle is not a perfect fit and the ergonomics means the iron sits on the base with room for lateral movement.
(Tefal fitted easily and snugly)
The pumping action to take water from the tank into the steam gen is so loud and noisy, my 2 yr old cried when he first heard it. It is so bad that the iron rattles to and fro on the base!!!!
(Tefal had steam gen only 3bar but no noise whatsoever associated with any pumping at all)
The steam trigger under the handle is not sensitive enough which means it needs a good squeeze (gets harder the hotter the iron gets).

The iron is light weight but good on results.
