Features

Philips
Powerful steam for faster crease removal

Steam output is measured in grams of weight as it leaves the soleplate. The heavier the output the deeper the steam can reach into the fabric layers for longer lasting crease removal. This steam iron has a powerful continuous steam output of 50g per minute for consistently fast results and a 190g steam boost for deep crease removal. Thanks to the carefully crafted soleplate design, the steam is distributed evenly across the soleplate. This way you need fewer ironing strokes to evenly moisten the garment and therefore less time to complete the ironing.

Philips
Vertical Steam

The iron can be used vertically and the steam is powerful enough to be used to iron out creases from curtains or hanging clothes for example suit jackets or dresses that might need a refresh.

Philips
SteamGlide soleplate

SteamGlide soleplate is the best Philips soleplate for your steam iron. It has great scratch resistance, glides excellent and is easy to clean.

Philips
Precision steam tip

The unique steam tip of this Philips iron, combines a particularly pointed front of the soleplate with special elongated steam slots in the tip, to reach right into the smallest and most difficult areas for the best ironing results.

Philips
Drip-stop system

The Drip Stop system of your Philips steam iron lets you iron delicate fabrics at low temperatures without having to worry about stains from water droplets.

Philips
Spray

The spray function produces a fine mist that evenly moistens the fabric making it easier to iron out creases.

Philips
Easy filling

It is now easier than ever to fill your iron with water from the sideway opening filling door, for quick and convenient ironing.

Philips
Safety auto off

The appliance shuts off automatically when left unattended. If it is left on it's heel rest it will switch off in 8 minutes. When left on the soleplate or on the side, it only takes 30 seconds before the iron shuts off.

Philips
Power

Power efficient at 2600W.

I ordered the Azur Steam Iron as a replacement for my old iron which is leaking lime scale out of the steam vents. The Azur has a double-active 'anti-calc' function that prevents lime scale from clogging the plate and that should help. You can also run the anti-calc cleaning function every couple of weeks to help keep the iron in good shape.

The plate itself is super smooth and gets into all of those difficult corners and edges without rucking up the material and causing creases. Angles to a sharp point which moves nicely between buttons and other fastenings.

Using the steam function is easy and the controls simple enough to figure out while you're ironing. Works particularly well on cotton shirts and the 'steam burst' thumps the creases out of denim with no difficulty whatsoever.

Also worth a mention is the 'safety 'off' feature (switches the iron off if you forget) and the 'anti-drip' feature (switches steam off when the iron hits a low enough temperature and prevents dripping).

Has a large water tank holding approx. 350ml and comes with a black plastic jug for water. The filling opening is sufficiently wide enough to prevent spillages and opens sideways to help make pouring easier.

I find the iron reasonably heavy but they've made the plate so smooth it glides along with minimum pressure. Takes a lot of the 'hot and sweaty' out of ironing and I'm all for that.

Included with the Azur is a user guide that's very short and sweet because the iron's simple to use and easy to figure out.

Does exactly what it promises and I'm happy to recommend this product.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I have to confess I am not great at ironing. I do however need to look half-way respectable when at work and I have always been partial to Philips Irons. This model is a huge improvement on my previous simple iron that even though purchased at £10 has lasted for more than a decade. This model is a large, slightly heavy iron with a full steam function that works very very well, even on those shirts that are a bit difficult to do properly. There are obviously details to this product that I don't understand, so I will stick to the things I do know. The iron works well, it does not require distilled water and has an auto off, plus an auto calc clean function. The only reason why this is 4* rather than 5, is the slightly fiddly feel of the dials. It always worries me if the dials do not look like the best plastic. I am sure the product will be durable though, like its predecessor.

When I first received the iron I thought it was quite heavy to handle, but when you actually use it it glides really easily and it makes the task a pleasure.
The steam is not noisy at all and it irons beautifully. I love it!

By far not the most expensive iron out there, you can still pay a lot of money and get something inferior to this item. We got this, as it is a, Which? Best buy in its class.
It has a long-lasting anti-calcium feature combined with a manual self-clean utility for keeping lime scale build-up to a the lowest. It's easy to use, to fill and simple to clean. Another good feature is the anti-drip arrangement to help avert water droplets forming in at low temperatures and thus spoil the ironing process.
If like us, we forget to switch off the unit there is an auto shut-off utility will switch off the unit. It produces large volumes of steam, which in turn gets deep into creases, and thus leaving clothes impeccably smooth. The thin soleplate just glides as it is used, which means you need not have to press down hard to get even results across a garment.

However this iron is heavy, when the tank is full with water. The user may not notice this while it smoothly glides across - when you're ironing. They may, as we did, find it laborious to work with after a while - particularly if you find lifting difficult. You may also find you may need to refill frequently as it goes through steam at reasonable rate.

This is a very good iron of its type. Although they class it as "lightweight", it's a bit heavier than I thought, but not excessively so. It performs well, with good steam action. The only annoying thing is that it does tend to sometimes leave spots of water on items being ironed. The blurb states that this wouldn't happen. However, perhaps I am ironing too enthusiastically, as I realise that the spots are coming out of the spray nozzle, not from the soleplate itself. So, perhaps iron a bit more gently! Overall, I am very pleased with this iron.

Totally impossible to see how much water it is holding. Guess work only.
Very flimsy water fill hatch, looks easy to break and had to re-insert it correctly from box.
Looks like this item has been designed for left-handed use.

On the plus side - quite heavy and does a great steam job. Just run a garden hose from the sink to the refill inlet?

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I hate ironing. Absolutely hate it. Hadn't done any for many years. Any clothes I have bought that needed ironing have been left in the wardrobe after their first bath.

I have tried a couple of times to make friends with irons in the last 15 years, out of sheer necessity, only to have them spit and grumble and widdle all over my clean clothes - after I'd waded carefully through their dreadful instructions. Which gave me the perfect excuse to totally give up. Bargain!

Now I have this little purple number. It is easy to use, has clear instructions, irons regular stuff well - and I have just ironed a linen blend top, which came out beautifully. That was the acid test - and it has worked like a charm. Just like irons did in the olden days (back when when we used to iron our jeans with creases down the front!), before the fancy bells and whistles came along to create confusion and havoc and minor flooding.

I am dreading the prospect of now having to do lots of ironing, after all these years of ironing-free bliss. But it will be lovely to re-discover loads of clothes that I've not been able to wear for donkey's ages. So it all balances out, really.

This is a very good little iron. It does everything it says it will and, after years of iron-phobia, I think I am cured! Highly recommended.
