At this point in time this is one of the cheapest AirPlay speakers available. It's a very compact offering and looks beautiful for a speaker. I traded in my Sonos System to go to AirPlay after having endless issues with dropping zones and accessing NAS drives with the Sonos. I have to say that the AirPlay is far easier and almost as flexible. This particular speaker is certainly as good as a Sonos Play:3 speaker and setup is less than 5 minutes (if you read the quick start sheet). I've only given it 4 stars because I still believe the AirPlay speakers are a little over priced and £180 (£200 in the shops) is a little steep, I'd say this is more a £150 speaker but if you want to make a start with an AirPlay setup this is a great place to start.

Just been given one of these by a friend as a gift - I was going to buy one (or something similar) but had always been deterred by the fact that AirPlay tends to be a bit hit and miss.

However, once I'd set it up (of which more below), it's very easy to use, and so far (only a day's usage, but there's surely no technical reason why it should be any different after a longer period), there's not been a hint of trouble with AirPlay - it's been rock-solid, responsive, and the sound quality is excellent. (I use an iPhone 4S (iOS6), and iPad 1 and a BT HomeHub 3)

The setup though is a complete faff, as others here have noted. It is worth persisting with, but took several tries to get it to remember my wifi details and then detect the wireless network. Now it's done, I'm hoping that if I don't use the speaker regularly (it will spend a lot of time unplugged - I do hope the battery powering the hardware which has the wifi settings retains a charge) I don't have to go through it again, as that would be unnecessarily painful.

So, that's it really - a speaker with great sound quality, hassle-free AirPlay support (for my setup at least), but irritating to get started with - so 4 stars.

I have recently got into using airplay to get music around my home. My PC runs Windows 8.1, my wifi router is the latest one SKY provide and I gradually added 2 x airport express, 1 x apple TV and a Logitech Airplay speaker. The main usage is streaming music from my iTunes library (on the PC) controlled by the "Remote" app on my phone. I haven't suffered drop outs of sound.

I bought this to place in another room - first impression was that it was smaller than I expected. I was expecting problems connecting this to my network based on many reviews, however, with WPS this was easy and took a couple of minutes.

I have played a variety of music on this and found the sound to be much bigger that it should be from a box this size. Very easy to listen to but not too soft. I have had no drop outs with this either.

The best bit though? I can't find any damage to it (it was described as scratched) and it cost only £59 which is staggering for an airplay speaker especially one with a sound like this.

I hope it continues to perform and I don't experience the loss of sound other users have commented on.

I snagged this on the Amazon lightning deals for ~£76, and so far have been impressed with it.

When I first opened the packaging and got the speaker out, it immediately felt like it was built out of solid materials, which was nice. The instructions for setting this thing up are large and unwieldy, but it's actually easy to set up (I set it by connecting my device to the speaker's temporary WiFi network and setting up the network credentials for my home wireless network).

Sound quality is decent - I'd probably say it's good enough for the price-point, but don't expect it to rival the top-notch (and expense) speakers in that regard. You get what you pay for. Volume is good - it can get pretty loud if you want it to. It's most definitely better than trying to listen to some music on your iPad or iPhone.

The usability of this product is fantastic, although there is some noticeable lag with the controls. AirPlay is as simple as touching the AirPlay button on your desired app and selecting your new shiny speaker. Done. It will take about 3-5 seconds to start playing on the speaker though, which is a little annoying as you can't be completely sure whether you've mis-hit the button or it's just taking its sweet time. Volume control is instant but playing, skipping or selecting a new track invokes a delay. It really is so simple to use though. It's great.

Portability is a bit of an issue. It may not actually bear any relevance to most reading this, but if you have some music on and you want to move it to another room, you can't just pick this speaker up and take it with you, as it has to be plugged into the mains.
