    A Mixed Bag 21 Mar 2011
By S. Thomas #1 HALL OF FAME TOP 10 REVIEWER
This bulb has a few good points but also some that are not quite so good; overall it is disappointing and certainly not perfect.

    The good points:

    * It is quite small (not very long) and therefore has more applications than other energy saving bulbs in terms of where it will fit. It can be used in table lamps and will generally not be visible above the shade; it also fitted in a very compact outside light where other energy savers would not.

    * Once lit, the bulb is flicker-free. Believe me, I have had more than my fair share of bulbs that either flicker or periodically switch themselves off to know that this is a positive point worth noting.

    * Obvious, perhaps, but it uses less energy than higher wattage bulbs for the same level of light output (but see my comments under the bad points).

    Okay, now onto the bad:

    * It seems to take an awful long time to build up to its maximum light output, much longer than other energy saving bulbs I have used in the past. This was most readily apparent in an outside light where the bulb barely emitted any light whatsoever for a minute or so after it had been switched on and even after ten minutes was still emitting less light than the 60 watt bulb it replaced.

    * Even after the bulb has been left switched on for 30 minutes or more, the light levels still seem below that of an equivalent 60 watt bulb. The light also seems to be less powerful; it doesn't penetrate as far into the garden for example as the ordinary bulb it replaced.

Overall, the bulbs fulfil their objective of providing light, just not as much as claimed in my opinion and only after a fairly lengthy wait for it to 'warm up'. They are fine in table lamps which are not being used for main room lighting, but really are far too dim to be used as the only light source in a room unless it is a very small room. I don't think I will be buying any more.

cheap and works! 30 Sep 2011
my lightbulbs cane out fast and i paid a fraction of what they cost in the shops, plus they have a 10 year life :) happy days!! They have a soft light which doesnt take long to come up to full power (some energy saving bulbs you have to wait 5 minutes!) so yes, id recommend the bulbs, and the company packaged them well and sent them quick!

    Dim light 1 July 2011
    By seraph7
Really shouldn't have bought these. One of the old generation of CFL's. I've been sent better ones through the post by power companies for free; certainly not worth paying for.
So Dim and delayed in lighting that I will have to look for something better to light up my loft.
