I would love to tell you how this sounded, but both the copies I tried were defective. Tried three sets of batteries and several commercially recorded cds, plus a cdr. Nothing worked, just got the message "no disc". Probably a defective laser in a defective batch. My opinion of Philips now quite dented.

First let me say that I did not buy this product from Amazon but it is the same model as the one I bought and its best avoided wherever it comes from.I had it a couple of days and treated it with care and then all of a sudden it would not recognise any of my CDs.Even from the start the anti jog feature was faulty so I got continual pauses even when the player was still and as I said after a few days it has now given up the ghost entirely.None of this is Amazons fault but I think this make of CD player is best avoided.

Awful best avoided, when playing a cd on a flat surface and still the audio cuts out and if the c.d player is lightly shaken or tapped starts playing as normal again anti-shock useless and these cut outs are becoming more frequent. Player at time of writing this has now stopped working fully so will be buying an alternative one from somewhere else. Dented my reputation of philips will never buy another product from them!!! :(
