The only things you could say were possible downsides are the loading mechanism, which isn't as bad as it sounds and the lack of an optical digital out might put some people off.
The player itself is nice & slim, but the same width as most other dvd players, the menus are simple enough to use.
I did have some problems with DixX/XVid play back being jittery, skipping frames, but discovered this was a problem with "Packed BitStreams", a quick search of the internet will give you many tools that can correct this before you burn your files to disc.
Well worth the money.
I was very wrong - it is multiregion capable - Look up.. at the top of this listing there is a little line of text that tells you the "secret" behind enabling the multi-region capability. I didn't see that before, and when customer service didn't tell me about it, I was ready to send this product back.
When I took a screen shot of this page to send to customer services with my return - I just happened to spot the small print :-) -
At any rate, once you use the instructions included in amazon's "how to make this product multi-regional" tutorial, it works a treat.
As such, I can now totally recommend this product to anybody who want's to play nearly ANYTHING on their dvd player.
