I ordered this on Monday 6th November. It was delivered at 12 noon Friday 10th November and at 12.15pm it was unpacked, installed and playing a DVD. Bearing in mind, I am a 80 year old woman, I should imagine anyone will be able to do the same.

The picture quality is remarkably good. The instruction manual and

remote simple to use. If you want a budget price DVD player, at £29.99, delivery free, this is the DVD player for you. You will not be disappointed.

Here's the information on how to make this multi-region. I've done it myself, and it works. 1) Make sure there's no disc in the player. 2) Press "setup". 3) Scroll to "preferences" using the left/right arrow keys. [If there's a disc in the player, you won't be able to get to "preferences"] 4) Press "138931" to access the region choice. 5) Use the up/down arrow keys to choose region 0 for "region free". 6) Now you're done, so exit and play your favourite DVD from your favourite region.

One thing it's very hard to find out from the technical specifications is this: the player very bad at letting the TV know what aspect ratio to use, so you have to deal with this manually. The last DVD player I had did this automatically very well, so it's certainly possible.

I bought this only this morning and I am thrilled with it! I needed a multiregional dvd player as I buy quite a few DVDs from the states and got sick of having a separate region one and region 2 dvd player, but as I was strapped for cash I just put up with it. However for only £[...], and such a good brand as Philips, it was a no-brainer.

I bought it because of the good reviews on amazon, but was apprehensive when people were saying they couldnt convert it to region free. I too was worried when I searched through the dvd booklet and found no instructions on how to change the region coding. I eventually just put a region one dvd into the player, hoping that it would bring up a region menu, but it simply loaded straight away! I was over the moon, no effort at all needed!

HOWEVER!! I put another region 1 DVD in and it wouldnt play! So here's what you do if this happens:
1. Press "Setup"
2. Scroll to "Preference" using the LEFT/RIGHT arrow key
3. Press "138931" and a pop-up screen will appear.
4. Use the UP/DOWN arrow key to choose the desired number.

This worked for me within seconds!

The picture is great too, I have only had budget dvds players before, and cheap brands at that, so this Philips was amazingly clear when compared!

Its gorgeous looking too, very slim (about 3cm deep), has a little digital menu on the front too (which was a big plus), and the remote is very small and dinky! My only improvement would be to have an eject/close button on the dvd remote, but presumably if you're getting up to change the DVD, you can press the eject button on the machine anyway, so this didnt cause it to lose any stars. A great purchase!!

If you want a multiregional dvd player that plays everything (in terms of all dvd regions and recorded cd's and dvd's), that looks very stylish, is easy to use and won't cost you a bomb, then this is what you're looking for! I'd recommend it to anyone, anytime.

Hi guys,

I noticed some people were having difficulty with the codes, follow these instructions...

Press "Setup"

Scroll to "Preference" using the LEFT/RIGHT arrow key

Press "138931" and a pop up screen will appear

Use the UP/DOWN arrow key to choose the desired number. Select "0" for region free

Hope this helps :-)

I bought this on the strength of the other recommendations and am very pleased with the purchase. Pin sharp, high quality colour and sound in an elegant slimline casing. Quality brand at a very affordable price. Only downside is that I can't find how to adjust the player to multi-regional DVD setting and it is not covered in the instructions.

After my old player died I decided to take a chance on a budget player.

It had to be multi region, it had to have an RGB scart and it had to look good.

A simple hidden menu on this player will change the region to 0, it has RGB scart (and component) output and it looks really nice with its reflective silver facia and compact size.

It's very quiet in operation and the setup menu's clear and simple to use.

Picture quality is very good for the price, perhaps a little softer than my old player, but that cost nearly £600 so I'm not complaining.

Build quality is good and it comes with a nice little remote too.

All in all and excellent little machine, you won't be disappointed.

I followed the instructions on how to make it multi-regional. All you have to do is press the setup button, scroll accross to the preference menu option (DO NOT press the OK button) and then press the following buttons on your remote: 138931 and a little box will appear asking you what region you want. If you scroll down to 0 and press ok it should play all region discs.

There are 2 little niggly things though. The disc drawer is slow at opening and it only has 1 scart socket, but these are not really bad points.

I have been looking to purchase a new dvd player for some time as my old panasonic, loyal, dependable and still working after some 5 years of service, was unable to play various dvd formats and any region other than two. After looking around I chose the Philips DVP3020/05 as it was a good price and seemed to tick all the boxes. My order was placed on a Saturday and the parcel arrived on Monday. Great! Not only was the delivery swift but the player itself is a little gem. It has played every type of disc that I have put in and I have been able to make it region free thanks to the lovely people who left the instructions on this site. Not only this but it is small, slim and stylish. And all for under £35! Take my word for it and pick one up now.
