I bought this item to listen to the radio or mp3's in the kitchen.
Good points
· This is a well-built piece of kit, strong almost like the old bakerlite.
· The sound is very impressive for such a small item.
· It can play mp3's off a memory stick.
Bad points
· The radio aerial is a loose piece of wire that is awkward to dangle in the kitchen; reception is very bad
compared to my old radio. I cannot get rid of the background hiss. If you could switch to mono, it may
get rid of the hiss but you can't!
· The dock does not remember where you were on the memory stick. A bit inconvenient unless you want to
listen to the same album every time you switch it on. You can select "shuffle" mode as an alternative but
this takes a few key presses.
Other points
· It does come with an aux cable to connect a non-ipod mp3 player. I tried an old ipod shuffle and this
works but with lower volume than the memory stick
· My daughter's i-phone worked on the dock.
· I haven't used the alarm function
My conclusion
· I can forgive the memory stick restrictions, as there is no alternative.
· 3 stars only because Philips describe this as a clock radio and the radio is very poor.
