Product Description

Philips Avance Collection 800 W Juicer HR1871/00 in brushed stainless Steel

Philips

Get a raw juice health boost. The Philips Avance juicer extracts all of the nutritious juice from your fruit and vegetables and can make up to 2.5 litres of juice in one go. The XXL feeding tube means that preparation time is significantly reduced prior to juicing. All you need to do is feed your fruit and vegetables directly into the tube and the juicer will do the rest. You can experiment with a variety of different ingredients varying from apples and oranges to parsnips and pears.

Once you have made your jug of raw juice, cleaning your juicer could not be easier. Thanks to the "QuickClean" technology, this juicer can be cleaned very quickly. All surfaces are made with smooth and easy clean materials, including the electropolished sieve, which means that the machine can be cleaned very quickly. Additionally, the design of the integrated pulp container means that the juice is channelled through the juicer more efficiently. This results in more juice being extracted from your ingredients and also less mess is created as all the pulp is channelled directly into the see-through pulp container. The see-through pulp container makes the Philips Avance juicer really straightforward to use, as you can see when the container is full.

Even emptying the pulp container is hassle free as the juicer can be assembled and disassembled quickly and easily. As well as the benefits of QuickClean and obtaining extra juice, the integrated design also means that this juicer will take up less space on your kitchen worktop.

Features
Philips
XXL feeding tube

The XXL 80 mm feeding tube allows you to juice even large fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots and beetroots without pre-cutting. This makes juicing quick, easy and a lot less messy.

Philips
QuickClean technology

A lot of pulp fibres usually get trapped in the sieve which makes it very difficult to clean. Thanks to the QuickClean electro-polishing process, the surface of the sieve is smooth so you can simply wipe away the fibres with a sponge or brush.

Philips
Smooth surfaces and easy-clean

The QuickClean materials used to make this Philips juicer have been selected with ease of use and cleaning in mind. All the surfaces are made from smooth and easy to clean materials so you can simply rinse and wipe away any mess very quickly. This juicer also has a stainless steel finish so will look great in your kitchen.

Philips
All pulp in one place

Juicing can be messy, but with this simple design feature, all the pulp is collected in the only place where it should be: the pulp container.

Philips
Make up to 2.5 litres in one go

Thanks to the QuickClean extraction system, you can make up to 2.5 L of juice in one go without needing to empty the pulp container.

Philips
2 speeds

2 speeds for soft or hard fruit and vegetables, to give you ideally smooth results, every time.

Philips
Non Drip Spout

Juice directly into the 1500 ml jug that comes with this Philips Avance juicer. Alternatively, you can attach the direct serve spout and juice straight into a glass. With one simple twist, you can prevent the juice from dripping and keep your counter top clean. The drip stop spout is very easy to clean as it is detachable and it is made of dishwasher safe materials.

Philips
Quick and easy assembly

All components of the juicer have been designed for simple and intuitive assembling and handling. This makes the whole cleaning and reassembly process quick and easy. The round design and smooth surfaces of the pulp collector make it easy to reach and remove.

Philips
800 W motor

The strong 800 W motor ensures that maximum amount of juice is extracted, with the minimum amount of fuss.

Philips
Dishwasher-safe

All removable parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher.

Advice when juicing
  • Ensure to wash the vegetables or fruits, remove peels which you would not eat and cut them into pieces that fit into the feeding tube if necessary.
  • Put the pieces of fruit or vegetables in the feeding tube and gently press them down towards the rotating filter with the pusher - Do not exert too much pressure on the pusher, as this could affect the level of juice output.
  • Be sure to remove all stones from fruits before juicing, but cores from apples and melons don't need to be removed.
  • Fruits that contain lots of starch are not suitable for processing in the juicer and the following items should not be juiced: sugar cane, bananas, mangoes, avocados, papaya, figs.

To optimise the result of juicing ensure to use fresh fruits, to feed the feeding tube slowly piece by piece, not to exert too much pressure on the pusher and to clean the filter in between uses to avoid blocking and covering of the sieve with fibres.

Please note that although the Philips juicers are very robust and built to last, it is advised that you allow the motor to cool down between juicing sessions as this prolongs the life of the motor.

We bought this juicer in July 2013 after watching the programme "fat, sick and nearly dead", we picked it because it looked easy to use for first time juicers and it had a wide chute which meant less prep time and also had some good reviews. We have used the juicer nearly every day and have really enjoyed the juices that we have made, the juicer is easy to use and comes with a good recipe book, although it does not have a cleaning brush like other juicers which is a slight niggle. My biggest bug bear is that, after the indulgence of Christmas, I have got the juicer out after a few days off and a minute after turning it on the motor has burnt out, filling the kitchen with a nasty burning smell. I notice that a lot of other reviewers have suffered from the same problem which is clearly a design fault and should have been rectified before selling more of this product at a fairly high price to honest consumers. I won't be looking to Philips to replace the product but we will try and get our money back and spend it on a Sage Heston juicer which looks infinitely superior!

I have never written a review on here before, this is how strongly I feel about this product. I juice a lot, at least one juice a day, and so I wanted to buy a top of the range juicer. I did a lot of research on the products out there, and I also read the reviews on this one about the motor burning out. I largely thought that they were probably written by people who didn't follow the correct instructions, and so I dismissed them.
For about 2 months, I've been tremendously happy with the product, the juice I got I absolutely loved, cleaning was OK, although I must admit it was perhaps slightly more time consuming than I had anticipated, but nothing too bad. However a few days ago I made a juice and then realized that there was a very very bad burning smell and the kitchen was full of smoke. The most annoying thing is that I didn't realize that this had happened until after I drank the juice, and I am now concerned what damage may have been done to me drinking the juice that had been smothered with smoke from the burnt out motor. So after about 2 months I've had to throw the product away - a complete waste of money. I am very disappointed as I had very high hopes having spent lots of money on a top of the range product especially to avoid this type of situation. Had I paid for a bottom of the range product I may have slightly expected this.
I am compelled to warn you all to be very wary about buying this juicer and wasting the money on it. I am now about to go out to buy the Sage juicer instead.

This juicer offers the highest level of juice extraction I have ever come across, whether from a stand-alone juicer, the citrus attachment for my Kenwood Chef or a manual press. There is very little juice that escapes and therefore very little waste.

    * Assembly

The juicer comes in a very large box, which will be too big for most kitchens to accommodate for storage. The juicer does, however have a relatively small footprint on a work surface and also looks good, so mine is staying out ready for action.

I found it very easy to put the juicer together without needing to refer constantly to the instructions as everything assembled in a very logical fashion. Taking it apart subsequently for cleaning is also a doddle.

    * Method

You need to do some preparation of the fruit before starting to juice. Remove anything from the fruit that you wouldn't normally eat - so peel oranges and pineapples, remove the stones from apricots and so on; apples on the other hand are just popped in whole.

The insertion tube will take apples and oranges in one piece but pineapples need to be cut down in size to fit, as does any other large fruit. Whilst fruit preparation is not high on my list of must-do jobs, it is worth taking the time to do this properly to avoid any bitterness creeping into the taste of the resultant juice. Once peeled and cut as necessary, the fruit is just inserted into the tube and pushed down slowly.

You get a choice of two different juicing speeds; the slower one works best on soft fruit like oranges and the faster one on harder produce like apples. I flit between the two speeds for pineapples depending on how much of the core is present in each piece.

Bought this juicer as it seemed to be highly recommended and reliable brand. But just after 5 weeks usage motor packed in and smell of burning was noticed. Reset as per manufacturer's instructions only for smoke to come out this time without tripping cutout. Luckily managed to disconnect from power before any chance of bursting into flames.

Sent emails to both supplier and manufacturer but still waiting their responses.

Conclusion would recommend another juicer for safety.

Used exactly in accordance with instructions on average twice per week for 3 months. The motor burnt out after 3 months of use and there is no guarantee or option to return. A very expensive mistake.
