After some years of trying out every cd-r brand i could find, i saw these philips discs. They are rugged, well made, and have never given me errors whilst burning. Also, they work fine as audio cds even tho the specification above says no.
The top surface is also a slightly rough texture so that you can write easily on it and see which side is which, and there is plenty of space to write whatever you need to.
Id reccommend these to absolutely anyone, and amazon is by far the cheapest place to get them.

Philips discs are certainly the best and most reliable, after many years of trying out every other brand on the market.
They are robust and well made with no errors whilst burning.
The visible surface has a slight texture so that you can write easily on it with the appropriate marker pens.
Do try them and you will also be recommending them, great service 48 hour turnaround and the best price. Will use them again

My last batch of discs were Verbatim 700MB 52x 80min. I read all the reviews and verbatim came highly recommended, on the net, and personally. For the reasonable price they seemed the best bet, but I've had more than my fair share of skipping music since I started using them. I aways burn music at X 20 (because that was recommended as the best speed) but am wondering wether to start wacking them out at X 24. Any road up I've switched to the Philips (god knows who makes them, might even be Philips) and so far everything has been tickety boo, so I would definately recommend them. But remember a lot of this stuff is subjective and some people can get a tad paranoid about certain things so don't believe everything you read.

These cd's are not what they are cracked up to be. They have a foil print over the top of the disc which can easily be scratched off with your finger nail or if not kept in a cd case (no cases supplied). Once this happens you cannot record onto them. I cannot understand why all the other reviews are so good. Unless I've Verbatim 43309 CD-R Printable 48x 50 pack spindlereceived a dodgy bundle. I would avoid at all costs. Pay a little more and go for the Verbatim white instead.

I burn over 1200 data and music cd's over the course of a year. I have used every brand of CD-R at every price point. Philips has always had the highest failure rate of any brand I've used. Yesterday I had 16 of these Philips CD-R's fail consecutively so I gave up and bought a pack of trusted TDK. I tried to burn the very same data onto the TDK's and got a perfect result first time! As with another negative review here, the silver pigment coating flakes off very easily and the overall construction of the CD is, quite frankly, a disgrace.
Philips should be ashamed of themselves.
