I love this little Philips. It does exactly was I wanted: it sits in a corner of the kitchen and fills the room with music while me and my flatmates hang around, or prepare breakfast or have dinner. For the price you can't really fault it.
PROS
-good build quality. Lots of plastic, but it feels sturdy, and the knobs have a nice robust feeling to them
-good speaker quality. While I didn't expect miracles given the price and size, I have to say I'm quite impressed with the stereo separation and the nice clean sound. This won't be as good as your main system, but it's perfectly fine as a secondary player for kitchen, garage etc.
-good radio reception: I'm not really sure what a previous reader meant when he complained about problems with tuning. My unit is perfectly fine and, while tuning happens through an analogue knob, I have no problems (NB I live in a city) in obtaining good, completely clean signal - to the point that I wonder what would the improvements of a DAB radio be.
-small and visually pleasing IMHO.
DEFECTS
None really so far, or better one, being really picky: the CD control labels (those shapes engraved in the buttons, that indicate whether the button is for playback, recording, next track, shuffle, etc) are white on white background. This means that, unless you learn by heart what each button does, it will be a little difficult to control the cd on the fly, while you're maybe doing something else and can't immediately see the label. Oh well..
In summary, does what I wanted and at a fraction of the price I was prepared to spend.
