The Philips AX5104 portable CD player, with stylish silver casing, combines great playback with features such as 45 second skip protection, CD-R/RW compatibility and Bass Boost.
The AX5104 is one of Philips' new personal CD players that are feature rich and well below the £100 mark. The player is very easy to use and all the playback control buttons are situated alongside the smallish LCD screen on top of the lid as well as on the remote control. The LCD displays basic track and play mode information and although clear, isn't backlit. Different play modes are available including shuffle, repeat one, resume and introscan. The AX5104 also features a 30 track programmable memory giving you total control over the order your music is played. The 45 second Electronic Skip Protection works OK when the player is accidentally knocked and the Digital Bass Boost works well delivering a nice full sound.
The unit ships with rechargeable batteries, a mains unit, in-ear earphones, remote control and belt clip. Using the rechargeable batteries you'll get a maximum playback time of 25 hours. The battery compartment is hidden on the inside of the unit so there's no risk of the batteries falling out because the battery cover has come off. The cable on the earphones is very short so connecting the remote control is highly recommended. However it can get a bit annoying as the volume control can be easily adjusted by accident.
As a good all-round portable CD player the AX5104 comes highly recommended. It has enough features to satisfy most people and it delivers cracking audio through the supplied in-ear headphones. It may not offer MP3 playback, and the ESP could be better, but on the whole it's a good, well-built player and well worth taking a look at. --Martin Snelling

The AX5104 features various CD program modes including shuffle, repeat one and Introscan which plays eight seconds of each track automatically to quickly scan a CD. A separate remote control and a detachable belt clip are also included in the package.

This item is very good for someone who wants a simple CD player, who is not looking to get one with more buttons than a space rocket. Well recomened.
