Avent have very clearly printed on the packaging the the teat/handle system is interchangeable and universal across the entire Avent range. It isn't. If you have the 'Natural' bottles then the teat/handle assembly will not seal and this is why customers complain of leaks all the time. You cannot use the seal ring with the Natural design as the thread length is then too long so the top won't fit. The only way to get this to seal on the Natural Range is to discard both the sealing ring and handles......which means you might just as well stay with the standard bottle/teat configuration! Pointless then.

As soon as I used it on a 'Classic' bottle then everything sealed and there were no leaks. The thread lengths are correct, the seals and handles all fit perfectly.

So if you have the 'Natural' range this does not work. Come on Philips you need to revise your packaging as universal means just that, not universal as long as you are using the 'Classic' system.

Oh and they leak dreadfully!! Removed one more star because of it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Slow flow 13 April 2011
By debbie8355 TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I currently use Tommee Tippee trainer cups suitable for 4+ months and won't be changing to this brand.
The main problem is the valve is very difficult for babies to drink from. By 4 months most babies are fast flow guzzlers and this is a frustrating cup they will not get much fluid from. It takes a lot of suction to get a tiny bit of fluid.
The Tommee Tipee cups Tommee Tippee First Cup (Pink) are free flow by comparison and have a fold down spout when not in use. Ok they leak more than these but if you are planning to just put water in them then there's little to worry about.
I notice that AVENT sell the valve spouts separately Philips AVENT SCF146/02 Soft Spouts (6 Months+) and trainer handles Philips AVENT Trainer Handles so if you already have avent bottles it may be better to try out a spout first. I'm confused why the soft spouts are recommended for 6+ on the spout page and 4+ months here.
The plastic spout and valve can be dismantled for sterilising/cleaning but who wants that fiddly job. Also you'll have to 'touch' the value plastic disc as it's a snug fit. Perhaps not so sterile after all. The two piece Tommee Tippee cups are superior in ease of cleaning by comparison.
The handles are very large and hard plastic. Easy to grab hold of. The bottle part is the normal clear plastic as with other small size avent bottles - not pearlised as the photo suggests. The fluid ounce markings are up the side as normal and there is a small rabbit design.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well thought out and effective 29 Mar 2011
By Chris L TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I have used this with my 10 month old daughter and she has really cottoned on to it and drinks well with it. As will all AVENT bottles quality is very good and will be familiar to anyone who has purchased an AVENT product in the past. Normally it would be five stars instead of four but a couple of 'slight' niggles are present to my mind and worth thinking about. Number one is that the product says it can be used from 4 months. Perhaps other children would be okay at 4 months but certainly my two daughters have been nowhere close to being able to drink themselves at 4 months. The other thing is that to make for a good seal (and it is a good seal, never leaks) Philips have added an additional 'o' ring to the neck of the cup. This could well be seen as a positive but be warned it is one more thing to search for when you are trying to grab everything first thing in the morning! However a very good product that is recommended.

I hope this review was of use to you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good idea. 24 Mar 2011

My daughter wouldn't part with her bottle so we ended up putting juice into it instead of a trainer cup. This is a great idea as she recognises the teat but doesn't make too much fuss when we swap it to beaker mode. It's a good price and a nice robust design. Would recommend.

    3.0 out of 5 stars Ok... 21 April 2011
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
My wife and I tried this product as our first attempt to wean our little one onto a bottle and much like some of the other reviews we found the flow to not quite be quick enough but did find that our little one took to it with ease. We haven't been using it for long so it may be a product that will grow on us, at this stage I would happily recommend.

Hi likes to be in control of how much he drinks. This is the perfect thing for his small hands.

what I love is the fact that I can change the parts between the Avent bottles.
