The Philips AVENT 3-in-1 Steriliser is here to help. A versatile steriliser that changes to suit your needs, it can be adjusted to fit the items you are sterilising, in order to take up the least amount of space in your kitchen.
The steriliser has 3 sizes:
● Small: the most compact configuration, perfect for sterilising soothers and small accessories such as teats
● Medium: for breast pumps or toddler plates, knives, forks and spoons
● Tall: the largest size, for sterilising a full load of 6 bottles and accessories
Fits all bottle types
The sterilizer has been designed to fit both wide-neck and narrow-neck bottles as well as different breast pumps and accessories. This gives you the freedom to choose the bottles and accessories that best suit you and your baby. At full capacity the sterilizer holds 6 330ml Philips AVENT bottles.
Fast and effective—sterilisation in 6 minutes
With a 6-minute cycle, your bottles and accessories will be sterilised before you know it. Once sterilisation is complete, the device will shut off automatically, ensuring extra safety and less energy consumption.
Just add water
The Philips AVENT 3-in-1 Steriliser is remarkably simple to use. Just add water, close the steriliser and press the button to run a cycle--easy. You'll have your bottles sterilised and ready for use in no time.
Contents stay sterile for up to 24 hours
The contents of the steriliser stay sterile for up to 24 hours if it remains unopened, meaning you can run a cycle, then return later in the day when you need to use a bottle or pump. This is particularly useful for those overnight feeds--there's no need for a tired mum or dad to wait for the steriliser to finish its cycle while a screaming baby waits for its milk or formula.

The '3-in-1' part of the product's name refers to the fact there are three different ways to assemble it. With a small and large basket, its modular nature means that you can sterilise just a few items such as soothers or teats using only the small basket; use the larger basket on its own to sterilise medium sized items such as breast pumps, plates or cutlery; or combine the two to sterilise up to 6 x 330ml bottles.
It is a natural steam steriliser, so there's no need to purchase additional consumables such as chemicals. It operates in cycles of twenty minutes - 10 minutes to heat up and sterilise the contents of the baskets, and 10 minutes cool down. It's not possible to restart the system until it has completed it's ten minute cool down. It turns itself off automatically at the end of the heating cycle.
It is a lightweight plastic design, but with a sturdy feeling base. Although there seemed to be a bit of play between the interlocking baskets, there wasn't any steam leakage between the sections. The base has rubberised feet to prevent it sliding around. It is very easy to use, comes well packaged and ready to go, and also has a 2 year manufacturer's guarantee.
On a negative note, the sides of it did seem hot to the touch (hotter than you'd expect a plastic kettle to be when boiling), so care should be taken around it. In a similar vein, the steam vent on the top isn't particularly well marked. The switch is of a type that means you cannot tell whether the device is switched on or off until you actually plug it in, so again, take note - if you plug it in and the switch has been left in the 'on' position, the hot plate is going to start heating up whether there's water in it or not.
The instructions are easier to follow once you realise the illustrations are all located on the inside leaves of the manual, so fold them out first and you can reference them as you read. There is a visual quick start guide on the lid of the box, but it doesn't mention that the manufacturer recommends completing the initial sterilisation with the baskets empty. The instruction manual is very thorough and includes a useful section on de-scaling, and a handy FAQ - my only gripe with it is that it's one of those manuals that's used for multiple models, so you have to keep working out whether sections of it are relevant to your model or not.

This is a state-of-the-art, electronic steam steriliser. This is the roll- royce of germ killers, offering the facility to sterilise in just six minutes; a godsend.
The adjustable sizing is an excellent innovation.
Even in its biggest size, due the the slim, space-saving shape, it is neatly stored when not in use. It's compact, yet surprising spacious.
Before sterilising, wash the items in warm, soapy water (or in the dishwasher) [1]
To start, add 100ml of water (bottled or tap - I use tap water) in the base.
Depending on the age of your baby, you'll have different types of items to sterilise:
- In the beginning, when the baby is being breast fed exclusively, you may just want to only sterilise some soothers. So, you can use the appliance at its smallest size.
I highly recommend electronic steam sterilisers. If this model is out of your budget, consider getting this smaller Philips AVENT Electric Steam Steriliser. It doesn't have an adjustable size, but offers phenomenal value and is just as efficacious.
[1] If you have a dishwasher, you may prefer the Philips Avent 4-in-1 [steam steriliser], which comes with a dishwasher receptacle/"basket" , for a handy way to secure smaller items

Nice and simple steriliser.
Place the stuff in and press the button.
There are no predefined compartments for bottles etc just space to place stuff in.
Loads of space to sterilise pretty much all in one go.
Handy option to either use the small top compartment or bigger middle one or both.
On the down side, it sometimes leaks if not properly placed flat or if you place slighly more water.
Moreover, the metal plate that turns water into steam has started to have a burned mark on one side on ours. We always place the correct amount of water in. I think this happens cause our worktop in not 100% parallel to the ground and water leans more on one side having this effect. Perhaps Philips could rethink the design to avoid this.
I haven't tried or seen other sterilizers, and to conclude,
this one works well, can hold a lot but does have some flaws...
