Product Description

Product Description

The Philips AVENT Advanced Orthodontic Soother has a revolutionary teat shape that calms babies while encouraging healthy oral development.

Developed by renowned orthodontic expert Dr Kai Hagemann, the Advanced Orthodontic soother is specially shaped like a mother's nipple, to let baby's tongue remain in its natural position. The soother has 'wings', positioned to minimise pressure on baby's gums.

The silicone teat is taste-neutral and odour-free, so it's more likely to be accepted by your little one. Silicone soothers tend to last longer than latex soothers.

Philips AVENT Advanced Orthodontic Soothers can be steam-sterilised, and are dishwasher-safe. They come with a snap-on protective cap for extra hygiene protection, as well as a safety ring handle. Philips AVENT soothers have air holes in the shield to help prevent irritation of sensitive baby skin.

Generally it depends if your baby decides to take on to it or not. Mine hasn't, even with us being persistent. He's 3 months, and effectively we only use a soother when he's agitated or too tired to sleep.

He starts sucking on it like a normal soother, then stops for a couple of seconds, opens his eyes and then spits it out. Repeat the process twice then give up.

How is it different to a normal soother?:
    1. It comes with 'wings' on the side, which is an extension of the soother itself (you know what I mean?) - you can see it clearly in one of the item pictures
    2. You don't get a flappie-clip to hang a strap from
    3. It goes in a specific way around

    Problems (Philips please note!!):
    1. Nowhere in the manual does it tell you which way around to put the thing in the baby's mouth!!
    2. When it's dark then forget it, it's a 50/50 chance of putting it in the right way up.
    3. Any reason really to not have a strap clip on there? I find it easier to carry his soother around my neck, but with this one I can't (yes, don't ask, and don't picture that!!)

I haven't given up yet, so I'll update if any changes!!

We introduced these to our Son after his 8 week jabs, he sucks for comfort & took to these straight away. It has not caused any problems with my milk supply or nipple confusion & he still feeds very well. The dummies are of a high quality which means they wash & sterilise very well. They are perfect for soothing our Son & he often uses one for a little while before spitting it out of his own accord & falling asleep peacefully.

there are better ones out there. it didn't look like the picture as it has no handle so difficult to handle and keep sterile. the teat is an odd shape so i dont know which way up it should be put in a babys mouth.
