I got this as a gift for a friend having Twins.
We ran the unit to get the hang of it, its fast - much more so than a competing product
and very simple to use. The addition of a starter bottle set is brilliant, of course Phillips want you to buy more of their product to expand the usage (more bottles) and that ok; they are quite affordable.
The packaging and the look of the product is very attractive and makes a great gift; very thoughtful one too.
One thing expressed here in reviews is the miscomprehension of sterility.
Its a medical term much misunderstood by the public.
In reality, any product is only truly sterile if its untouched, un-moved and the air surrounding it is also sterile, or unchanged -so its a bit of a myth.
No product is sterile when its opened in room air, even our operating theatre instruments.
But if everyone is 'clean' and an aseptic technique is used - its a viable risk.
So opening the lid of the AVENT and taking a bottle out means its not sterile -however it is aseptically 'clean'. This does mean that your mucky garden hands should be clean too.
The risk in leaving the bottles in the tank once the lid is closed is also acceptably low. Don't panic. however most users would fill the whole batch with milk for the day/night feed - so I don't see what the fuss is about anyhow.
Despite all that - a cycle takes about 8-10 minutes in reality, so its no hassle.
The advantage over chemical sterilisers is - people often wash the bottles with tap water when they take it out of the hypochloride solution; thus contaminating the bottle - tap water is NOT sterile, far from it.
This is a good product by a reliable brand name with lots of spare parts and additional bottles, various teats etc.
A good product at a great price.
