Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Start your day your way!

This stylish radio alarm clock looks nice and wakes you in time. It has a built-in AM/FM radio and gives you the choice of waking up to your favourite station or with a buzzer.

Wake up to your favourite radio tune or a buzzer
Wake up to sounds from your favourite radio station or a buzzer. Simply set the alarm on your Philips Clock radio to wake you with the radio station you last listened to or choose to wake up with a buzzer sound. When the wake up time is reached, your Philips Clock radio will automatically turn on that radio station or trigger the buzzer to sound.

Repeat alarm
To counter oversleeping, the Philips Clock radio has a snooze feature. Should the alarm ring and you wish to continue sleeping a bit longer, simply press the Repeat Alarm button once and go back to sleep. Nine minutes later the alarm will ring again. You can continue to press the Repeat Alarm button every nine minutes until you turn off the alarm altogether.

A Good clock considering how cheap it is. It is light so it feels cheap which I guess it is but it honestly is a good clock with good LED that you can see at day and night. It has a radio which is a nice feature which can also double up as an alarm to wake you if you don't like the default sound. Volume can be turned up quite loud but I have mine set to around 80%.

I would recommend this for the money and feel it is suitably priced.

The LED mains alarm clock seems to be a shrinking market, and choice isn't great. Out of this smaller market, this is probably the best one at a reasonable price.
+ve: Compact, clear, reliable, "alarm reset" function is great (resets alarm for tomorrow, so you don't have to remember to turn on again).
-ve: Buttons/swtich are a bit fiddly - snooze button is big and easy, but other buttons are hard to identify easily in a just woken stupor (I've put a little dot of glue on top of the alarm reset button so I can find it by touch).

Well where to start...there isn't much to a clock radio to review.

The basics are all there, it tells the time, plays the radio and wakes you up in the morning. what more do you need from it?

The controls are very simple to use, changing the time and setting the alarm are both very quick and easy. I didn't even need to look at the manual to work it out (perfect for all those times I'm half asleep and realise I haven't set the alarm, and need to fumble around in the dark to set it.)

Looks wise, it's all in order. Nice simple design, with a clear display that doesn't light the room up like Vegas.

There are a couple of down sides that I have noticed since owning it. The first is that the switch to change between the device being on/off/alarm with radio/alarm with tone is fiddly sometimes, am often finding myself accidently switching it past the setting I want and having to concentrate far too much to get it right. The second is the volume switch being on the same side as the tuning switch. They are quite far apart but I still find myself (in sleeping morning states) retuning it rather than turning the volume down. Bearing these 2 things in mind, they happen very rarely and are partly some what to do with my own retardedness as opposed to the devices downfalls.

So all in all, its well worth the money if you're in the market for one and would recommend it to you, which as you're reading the review for it, I assume you're contemplating buying it.

I got this today and was at first surprised by its compact shape and good quality sound from the radio. However, thats the plus side, the down side you cannot turn off the alarm! Its eitheir on or the radio is on but the function for tuning it off completely doesn't work

I've bought a few Philips products in the last few years as I bought a tv and felt the other items ould be of the same high quality...I was wrong, cheap tosh.

We bought this Phillips AJ3112 Clock Radio about six months ago.

It's a basic square looking clock, chunky but compact. The LCD display shows large green digits that are easy to read in the dark. It's a 24 hour clock and the lead is a decent length. As well as mains it can be used with a 9v battery.

You can choose to wake up to a buzzer or radio, I always use the radio, kept quite low but loud enough to wake me. The radio reception is very clear. It's an old fashioned analogue FM/MW radio with a manual tuning dial to search for stations.

The time and alarm time are simple to set. There is a large snooze button which is easy to find when feeling groggy. To switch it off without pressing snooze you need to press the second of four small buttons behind, which is fiddly, but good in my opinion because it makes me sit up in bed rather than continue to press snooze. There's also a sleep timer function.

I've had no problems with reliability, it's kept good time so far. It's an improvement on our old clock which woke us with a loud beeping and had an annoying background electrical buzz, the digits are also bigger and clearer.

This is a low priced yet reliable alarm clock radio. It may not be exciting but it has all the features I need. Recommended.

There are many things wrong with this alarm clock. The button to turn off the alarm clock completely is tiny and inconvieniently placed so that I am never sure whether I have pressed the right one or not. I end up resetting the alarm every morning by sliding the button off and on again, otherwise it will go off again. This is a very poor design in my opinion.

The radio is also quite poor. I have had the clock for about a year now and have never been able to hear the radio clearly, even with me holding the wire as high as I can. I have also found that the radio will also randomly turn on, when it is clearly in radio off mode. This can only be solved by unplugging the clock from the mains and then plugging it in again afterwards.

This brings me to the next problem: setting the time. This is a problem both for changing the time of the clock and also for setting the alarm to a different time. I find that it takes a long time to cycle through the hours and minutes. I then often miss the hour that I need, resulting in a need to start again. Very irritating.

So all in all, don't buy this alarm clock.
