I bought these for my daughter a couple of weeks ago and I have to say that we're really pleased with them. The sound quality is excellent and she found the correct adaptor for her 2nd Gen iPod Nano very easily. The iPod sits securely in the slot (although you have to remove any cases first as even a silicone one makes it too big) and the sound quality is excellent.
The remote control, though very small and thin, seems robust and although some other reviewers have criticised the alarm, we bought this BECAUSE people said it could get very loud. It does build up the volume so if you get on and snooze it or turn it off it shouldn't be an issue but for my daughter it's perfect.
The other very good feature about this model is the ability to dim the brightness of the display or even turn the backlight off completely. It's very easy to do so if it's turned off but my daughter wakes up in the night and wants to check the time, she simply hits the snooze button and the light comes back on. I recommend this feature because even on the lowest setting, the backlit display is very bright in a darkened room.
The one negative my daughter has about this system is the two buttons on either side of where the ipod sits. They control skipping tracks and the volume. She says that she finds them a bit fiddly to use and is why she wouldn't rate it as 5 stars but it's a minor thing, easily resolved with the remote. It might also make a difference if you have another model of iPod.
All in all, this is a great system for the money. It doesn't take up much space, it's easy to use and the sound quality is excellent with no hissing or tinniness.

I bought this item yesterday, relying on the brand name more than anything else.
Well, I am very pleasantly surprised:
-It was dead easy to set up.
- The sound quality is excellent, even at high volume.
- The bass thingie does work! (despite the fact that Philips have given it a silly name..woox?)
- It fits my Ipod Nano 4th generation (it isnt mentioned on the box, but it does fit).
- It looks good.

I got this yesterday and I have to say, I'm quite impressed with it. The unit is quite lovely to look at, the display is nice and clear and the sound is actually pretty good.
The remote control is so handy and works well. The volume goes pretty loud, but not so loud as to distort the audio and who needs anything louder for the bedroom?
Pros:
+Good sturdy unit which feels very well made
+Ipod charging, MP3 playback from the Ipod, radio tuner
+Good sound quality
+Functional small remote control
+Nice set of features overall
+Pleasant alarm gradually gets louder when waking up to radio or ipod music
Cons:
-There aren't many, but perhaps the display brightness could go down one more notch before going off. It is still quite bright when going to sleep in a dark room
-It would be nice if the display could show the title of the MP3 you're listening to.
I like it and I'm very pleased with it. I would NOT advise buying the newer model which has a DAB radio tuner in it. It's a waste of money and there is no remote control. Why on earth they took that away I have no idea.
***Update***
It may be just my unit, I really have to check with Philips, but it looks like if you don't actually manually turn off the alarm it will run and run and.... rrrun! Not the best, when say, oh I don't know... you go off for a weekend break! The volume ramping up and staying there is not so good then... not for one's neighbours.
Therefore, dropping to 2 stars... (which I can't seem to change above) So here you go: **
