4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant except for the whistle! 16 May 2011
By Sinky
We bought this TV through Amazon after doing a lot of online research as we wanted an LCD that was a good all-rounder and we were not disappointed.

The picture is almost too perfect and bright and the options to personalise the display and sound settings are jaw-dropping, even on SD tv the pictures can look almost 3D and the sound is great, as is the ambi-light which glows around the TV. We have teenage sons and they have even been tempted from their bedrooms to play on their x-box downstairs as the picture and detail is amazing, also it copes well with fast-moving things like motor racing and sports without too much of the blur that some flat TV's suffer from.

The internet service on the TV is well.... a gimmick, it is not set up for any of the on-demand tv services like bbc iplayer or 5.tv but instead for youtube and a couple of subscription channels, I haven't had time to fiddle to see if I can remedy this as it's not a huge deal to me but I think many will expect these services with an internet TV.

So, why only 4 stars? Well we have noticed a high pitch whistle which changes frequency with the picture on the screen, I can mostly ignore it but it is beginning to drive my husband nuts, he is considering asking for a replacement as it is spoiling his enjoyment of the TV.

On the whole I would recommend the TV.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant TV 14 July 2011
By mr b
This TV is absolutley brilliant. The pictures produced are outstanding, once you spend a little time setting it up as the factory set settings don't do it justice. Some may think the ambilight feature a gimic, but i realy think it adds something to the overal experience (believe me when you turn it off you'll soon be turning it back on as you'll miss it!). I can only imagine what it would look like if it was displaying a HD image if the standard def imagies are anything to go by. The only small downside to this TV is that like most LCD TV'S the viewing angle is quite narrow i.e best view is directly in front, far to the side of it not so great. The TV itself looks great and oozes quality; as does the remote which is minimalist and metalic! I've been watching upscalled dvd on it, but im tempted to get a blue ray player now! overall very pleased with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars ambilight A new believer 20 Aug 2011
By smokey
Got this TV after much research and time on-line as i had previously been in and out of shops asking to see their best definition TV set up and never once thought it worth the money.
I feel i underpaid for this TV. I have 2 other 40 inch+ tv sets and they look very pixelated unless you are at the "correct" viewing distance (minimum).
I can get up close to this TV and it still looks good but sitting on the couch without 3d specs/system at night you are immersed in whatever you are watching.
The ambilight is a must have for me from now on, as for the Ethernet connection, i only used it to update the software on the TV and understand the need for it (future proofing).
I can move photo files and film/TV files via a cheap 250 gig Hard drive using the 1 usb connection.
Folk in other sites put this TV down a point or 2 because of the controller as they hated the fact that to get to some functions you had to press 2 BUTTONS!. Heh, so what? the controller is a thing of beauty, just like the TV.
I feel incredibly lucky to have found this item. If you watch tv at night with low lighting or a side light on to stop the HARSH bright moments, you need to switch to this TV.
I just ordered the soundbar although its not needed the rear facing speakers are very punchy with little distortion. A+ 5 star for this product, my new baby :)
