The 21" PT1557 from Philips is a very affordable television ideal for those wanting something a bit larger than a standard portable, but without the additional cost of unnecessary features. The PT1557 is plug and play for easy installation; so connect an aerial, switch it on and it will automatically start the quick installation process. The first time you switch on the television, a menu appears on the screen and the tuning starts automatically. All the available TV programs will be stored. This operation takes a few minutes. The display shows the progress of the search and the number of programs found. At the end of the search, the menu disappears. The programmes found are arranged by number 99, 98, 97, &etc. You can then renumber these programmes as you wish.

The full function remote control gives you access to all the available features including pre-set image settings (a total of four are available plus one personal setting rich, soft, natural, multimedia and personal). Other features include Teletext, on-screen information and a sleep function that will switch off the television after a designated time (between 0 and 240mins). The Blackline picture tube ensures higher contrast and improved day time viewing.
