Based on a filament design and optimized geometry, X-tremeVision is engineered with technology for ultimate performance and bright, white light where it matters the most.

Philips
Designed for multiple usage

Which 12 volt lamp for which function? Philips Automotive offers lamps for all car-specific functions: high beam, low beam, front fog, front indicator, side indicator, rear indicator, stop light, reversing light, rear fog light, license plate lights, rear position/parking light, interior lights.

Philips
Car manufacturers choice

Philips is the choice of all major car manufacturers. For 100 years, Philips has been on the forefront of the automotive lighting industry, introducing technological innovations that have become standard on modern automobiles. Today, one in two cars in Europe and one in three worldwide is equipped with Philips lighting.

Philips
ECE homologation

Philips Automotive is dedicated to producing products and services in the Original Equipment Manufacturer market as well as in aftermarket. Our products are manufactured from high-quality materials and tested to the highest specifications to maximise the safety and driving comfort of our customers. Our entire production is meticulously tested, controlled and certified (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and QSO 9000) to the highest ECE requirements.

Philips
UV Resistant

Philips car lamps are highly UV resistant. Philips anti-UV coating technology protects the headlights against harmful ultraviolet radiation, making Philips UV-coated quartz glass ideal for all driving conditions and ensures their longevity.

Philips
High quality and visibility

X-treme Vision provides you with improved reactivity thanks to earlier recognition of obstacles and traffic signs. Light is a fundamental part of the driving experience and light is the first and only part of the safety circle that actually helps prevent accidents. Philips promotes active safety protection to prevent accidents by increasing overall visibility and road illumination.

Philips
Change in pairs

Change both your headlamps at once for more safety. It is highly recommended to change them in pairs for symmetrical light performance.

Philips
Award-winning car lamps

Philips is an award-winning car lamp manufacturer. Our lamps are often recognised by automotive experts.

Philips
High quality quartz glass

Philips car lamps are made of high-quality quartz glass. UV-quartz glass is stronger than hard glass and highly resistant to temperature extremes and vibrations, which eliminates the risk of explosion. Philips quartz-glass lamps (filament 2 650º C and glass 800º C) are able to withstand severe thermal shock. With the capability of increased pressure inside the lamp, UV-quartz glass is able to produce a more powerful light.

Philips
Resistance against humidity

Philips car lamps are highly resistant against humidity. Only a burning bulb made of quartz glass (filament 2650°c, glass 800°c) can resist thermal shocks such as when a drop of cold water touches the hot bulb, which can happen when you drive through water with a broken headlight unit.

I contemplated upgrading to HID lights on my 2008 Passat CC after having made the decision to buy a car without Xenon lights, having the luxury of Xenon for the previous 3 years. Stupid idea! Going back to basic halogen lights was a mistake with the amount of night driving I do. I read both good and bad reports about HID but I couldn't find a reliable provider at a realistic price. I opted for the Philip X-treme Vision H7 as a halfway house. They are clearly no comparison to full Xenon, don't get me wrong. However, they are a great compromise as they do live up to their name, almost! The increase in brightness is huge, around 80% if I'm honest. The biggest benefit is the whiteness of the light compared to the dull yellowish glow of standard bulbs which make driving at night so much more pleasant. Distance visibility is increased but not to the extent quoted - I'd say 60%. I would recommend these bulbs to others and I will also purchase another set myself for full beams, for those nervous drives down country roads.

I have been in the motor trade for 25 years and I have witnessed the development of headlamp bulbs throughout those years. I recently got my wife a newish BMW 320d without HID headlamps, thinking that the normal Halogen couldn't be that bad, well the first time my wife drove it at night, I needn't say anymore. I immediately considered an HID conversion, but as it was for the wife's car thought that keeping it legal would be the safer option. I looked for a legal upgrade and eventually after reading several reviews and forums decided on these, and I all I am going to say is 'why don't BMW fit them as standard', if they continue to make HID an optional extra.
It is scientifically impossible for replacement bulbs to actually significantly increase the length of beam from a headlamp as the reflector and lens control that, but they can increase the brightness/whiteness of light produced enabling the beam to be adjusted (within legal limits) to achieve the maximum visible beam pattern and these bulbs certainly do that.
I have just fitted some to my Mk 6 Fiesta and they have really improved those as well. (Please note that the fitment of bulb may not be the same for a BMW and a Fiesta, I meant that I had fitted this make of bulb to my Fiesta as well.)
If you have candles and want to stay legal, give these ago, they do not perform miracles, but you will not want to go back to standard Halogen bulbs.

I clearly noticed the difference using these bulbs compared to standard ones. For the price I think they are well worth it.

Excellent bulbs - very white for a "normal" bulb with a good, consistent beam; considerably less expensive than some alternatives that might sometimes be marginally better. Reasonable lifetime - somewhere between 1 & 2 years for me. As with any bulb, always make sure you don't touch the glass at any time when fitting them!

Posted up a couple of before and after shots for an Audi A4 B8.

So, don't expect these bulbs to light up the universe but there was some noticeable improvement (which on the margin could make a difference).

Also changing bulbs on an Audi is a bit of a knuckle skinning, frustrating experience as I had to remove the front headlamp cluster(s).

I have used other increased night vision bulbs previously but only a marginal increase, these Extreme vision made a good difference on my Volvo XC, also bought a set for the Mini, where I did notice the difference at least 80 - 100% improvement well worth the extra few ££.

I have a BMW E60 530i and the Halogen setup on these cars is poor. So I thought I would try a bulb upgrade.

Philips claim up to +100%. I would have been happy with 20%. I had one bulb blown which had prompted my purchase, so I thought I would run one Philips X-tremeVision alongside the existing bulb (fitted by a BMW dealer and labelled Osram). I was quite surprised to see that the side with the Philips fitted appeared worse in terms of light output, and the beam appeared to be shortened, although it had a cleaner "edge" and the light seemed a bit whiter. I drove the car like this for some weeks before deciding that the Philips side was indeed (in my opinion) not quite as good as the standard bulb. Of course it may depend upon the specific application; in other cars the Philips bulbs might offer an improvement.

I think that in a lot of cases there is a placebo effect - we expect to see an improvement and so we do. But putting a bulb side by side with another is a way of being more objective. Overall I would say these bulbs for my application are a waste of money and I am keeping them as emergency spares, having found a better solution.

I guess I set my sights a bit too high with these after being spoilt with HID headlights on my last 3 cars. My current car is a Jaguar XF and it seems that everything is an option with Jag. So after I lost one of my standard bulbs last week, I decided to replace both with these. Went for a drive down several dark roads yesterday, and was pleased, but not gobsmacked. I was expecting better. They are a bit like driving with the high beams on, but you're not dazzling oncoming traffic (nobody flashed me).

So whilst not cheering with joy, I like them enough to justify spending a bit more money and getting another pair to upgrade the high beams as well. Especially as the price from Amazon is so good.

Oh, one more thing. One of the bulbs had come loose from its fixing in the plastic box they come in, and was rattling around banging against the other. No damage done though, and I blame the courier entirely for this.
