This 'cathedralized' version of Another Look, compared with the Early Voice recording, has had to be taken slower, running for 10 minutes longer than the previous 50 minute one. The new pace lets one appreciate what's happening musically, the detail. The recording overflows with atmosphere, and Glass's music is especially timeless, sounding like something from the middle ages, yet modern. It's probably no coincidence that when The Choir of the 21s Century and Christopher Bowers-Broadbent performed this in summer last year it was on the programme with a piece by Orlandus Lassus.
This is maybe not the most accessible piece of Glass, despite being one of my personal favourites. But if you like the Early Voice recording, this is well worth experiencing for another perspective.
