Review

I used this very book to revise my English Lit exam (Unit 2 Poetry Across Time) and it had everything I wanted to know, for each poem. Moreover it showed me how to answer exam questions which was very benefiical as in the actual exam I got a result of an A*. This was all because of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars AQA Anthology Conflict and Relationships 27 Jan. 2011
Format:Paperback
I found this guide exactly what the students it is aimed at require. It offers them an instructive and sympathetic introduction to poetry. The layout is attractive and the content is well structured. It gives them the background to the poem, answers the queries they may have and leads them on to develop their own thoughts and ideas. I am surprised by Monkeyman's rather general comments and am tempted to ask whether he has read the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great help 15 Feb. 2013
By Rudy
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
It is a good guide for writing an essay, despite the fact that I found some quote words in this guide does not correspond to the words in the poem that are printed in "GCSE Anthology Moon on the tides", given by the college. W.Owen's poem says "whispering of fields half-sown.", as this guide talks about "whispering of fields unsown"; I like all the extras on the website:-)

This book does exactly what it says - it goes through each poem, in depth, in order for the student to understand it and be able to communicate their own interpretation of it.

This book is an excellent companion to the AQA Anthology "Moon on the Tides" and is helpful to me as an English tutor. My only niggle is that there is no index.
