I have all the televisions in my house tuned to the one Sky+ box in our lounge. I use this device to control that Sky+ box from the main bedroom. Previously, if we were watching a Sky programme upstairs we'd have to change channels (after arguing who's turn it was) by going downstairs to do it at the box. Neither of us could be bothered to go down to fast fwd the ads if we were watching a recording. Now we can do it all without getting out of bed.

Bought one of these for a Magic eye on the RF2 out of a Sky+HD. Item delivered was not a Philex2799R but an unbranded 2075T/R although the looked identical. However, this product did not operate on any of the 3 sky systems I have in my house; a Panasonic, an old Thompson standard box and a Thompson Sky+. It worked fine on everything else, even a Sony Freeview box and several DVD players, but nothing on any of the Sky systems.

As this was bought for someone else, decided to first try it on his system before sending it back. He has a 'Magic Eye' attached to the RF2 output on his Sky+HD box. When the 2075T/R was pointed at the Magic Eye bead, it worked first time!.

I did not try it directed at the front of the Sky+HD box, as it was working OK on the Magic Eye, which was what it was intended for, nor did I try a Magic Eye on my older systems.

So, if you have an older Sky system, would suggest checking with the instruction book to see which model you have, save all the packaging and test it on your system before unwrapping the cable ties in case it does not work directly on your system and has to be returned.

This is great. I've had other IR senders in the past that have disappointed due to inconsistencies in sending messages or the fact that you have to angle the transmitter to be just in front of the device you're trying to control. Not easy in a compact cupboard.

However, this one is great. The visible receiver is smaller than it appears in the photos and it not noticeable when placed next to my TV (although it would have been nicer to be black rather than the dated silver).

The transmitter has a cable with 3 separate transmitters attached. This was ideal for me and I draped this cable in front of the devices I want to control in my cupboard. One thing to note is that because it is one IR transmitter cable and not 3 separate ones, the devices do need to be close to one another (eg in a vertical line on a shelf). Distributed appliances might struggle here.

Once put in place I simply plugged in and it just worked. I'd recommend this if you're after an IR sender.
