Confessions of a Doctor is certainly more anatomical than Dr Phil's Rude Health Show, and perhaps not for those disgusted at the thought of anything looking like the inside of a giraffe's ear. But this is far more than entry level medical humour - there are some great stories and refreshing honesty from Dr Hammond as he takes us on a tour of all his personal and professional cock-ups. Hammond is perhaps best known for his whistleblowing about the NHS in Private Eye, but before you become a whistle-blower you have to blow the whistle on yourself - and the whole, crazy, dangerous health service. Dr Phil does this in spades, even if he is delightfully and deliberately vulgar. I'm not sure I'd want him as my GP, but this is well worth the price of a prescription.
