'A timely and very readable introduction to phenomenology for the psychological audience. Langdridge very successfully leads the reader through the basics of phenomenology towards practical insights into the breadth and scope of a variety of contemporary phenomenological perspectives and their application within psychological research. I highly recommend this book to anyone thinking of undertaking qualitative research. The author cleary and succinctly guides us through some of the most important philosophies which underlie phenomenological research methods, and thus enables us to think more clearly about what each of these methods of research is actually trying to achieve. Clarity of understanding about the PURPOSE of methodologies is essential when attempting to choose one which will adequately meet the purpose of the chosen area of research. This is a book I will return to many times as I undertake my Doctorate level research - I recommend it to anyone at any level of study who needs guidance in the area of qualitative research.

I had read numerous text previous to this, but none of them managed to convey so much information in such a succinct way as this. I am completing an MSc at the moment, not in psychology but using qualitative methods in my research design and few books offer such a readable explanantion behind this paradigm. I would recommend to anyone conducting a qualitative design study.
