5.0 out of 5 stars A rare gem where most of the recipes are usable, 28 Nov 2001
By A Customer
What a find. As the authors state in the intro: "we don't pretend to be culinary wizards: this is simply a collection of our favourite recipes...", the recipes are for us amateur cooks. The depth of the flavours on offer is far beyond most cook books I've owned, and they (recipes) are cookable with a minimum of fuss and mess.
The main course section is so wonderfully varied, yet (importantly) relies on ingredients found in every home (ie no need for the special Waitrose excursion foressence of bat's ear). I've cooked 8-10 of them, and each time the dish EXACTLY matches the expected taste.
This book makes an excellent stocking filler - a shame it's taken me so long to find it.
As a tribute, I would find it hard to imagine the authors being able to write a second edition.

An excellent gift for a friend who always makes pheasant casserole. Now he can be more adventuresome!!!! Not that the casserole isn't always fabulous. He loved the gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for keen shooting folk, 3 Mar 2009
By Neil S. Chantrell "pheasant plucker" (Cheshire UK) - See all my reviews

This is a really useful addition to my game recipe book shelf. The recipes are clear and concise. I have been shooting and eating pheasant for over forty years and I have never heard of some of these. Go on, be tempted you won't regret it.
