The mixes of Erasure favourites from their halcyon years of the mid to late Eighties contained here, are all very good as you'd expect, however there is nothing radically different, which goes some way towards explaining why the band have never really moved on from that period. Unlike contemporaries such as The Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode and OMD, Erasure always opted to keep their style wholly intact - bright and breezy pop/synth ditties with the occasional hint of darkness. It's a shame really, as Vince Clarke had the world at his feet circa 1990, and could have continued his mandate to be the hub of as many of the Twentieth century's finest pop groups. Having said that, these are all cracking songs and new Erasure material - albeit only old songs remixed - is always welcome. This won't bring in new fans but will certainly keep the faithful happy.

It's been good year for Erasure fans this year, even though the band haven't actually released any 'new' material. The Phantom Bride EP is their third EP of the year and features remixes of 5 songs taken from the up and coming re-release of the Erasure album The Innocents.
As with previous Erasure EPs from the last few years (except Erasure Club), the remixes have a 'clubland' feel to them and they are all done brilliantly. It is a style that really suits these older erasure songs. There is even a remix by the bands own Vince Clarke on Hollowed Ground.
This EP is well worth a listen and the track Phantom Bride is certainly one of Erasures forgotten gems. Can't wait for the special release of the Innocents now!

A great piece of music from one of the most enduring groups around. Some people think they have jumped on the 80's revival band wagon and reformed........the truth is, they have never split up and have continued to release great music and perform great shows!
