Finally a cat flap with selective entry and exit... and no collar. Your microchipped cat becomes the key to its very own flap with our Smart Flap Microchip Door.
No more losing the collar key in the garden or elsewhere. This door incorporates a microchip reader that will detect and scan your cat's microchip, allowing it in and out.
This state-of-the-art cat flap can be set up for 31 cats. Its light detector will allow you to keep your cat safely in at night. A warning tone lets you know when your cat has gone out or come in.
The Smart Flap is powered by both a cord and battery: in case of a power cut, your cat can still go through the flap... and if the battery runs out, it won't get locked out either.
Duration of the flap opening can be adjusted from 2 to 28 seconds to allow for slower, aging cats. The Smart Flap can be fitted in doors or windows.
A magnetic latch and combined draught excluder help keep the weather outside. The Smart Flap operates on low voltage.

We bought this cat flap last year and it is the best catflap we have ever bought. I only wish we had brought one before. We researched it and opted for this one due to a few different facilities that we wanted.
PROBLEMS WITH OTHER TYPES OF CATFLAPS. We have gone through the full range of normal flaps, electromagnetic and infra red flaps and had problems with all. Ranging from batteries running out quickly, lack of sensitivity in activation - usually in the middle of the night! - and neighbourhood cats having got in as they had the same keys. The final straw was when we realised that one of the cats was letting neighbourhood cats in because she was sitting in front of the cat flap to scare them off but unwittingly activating the lock - bless, not a v sharp kitten!
This cat flap has solved all of these problems. It works perfectly every time. No other cats have been able to get in as it only recognises our cats. It stood up to the local bruiser cat trying to bash his way in. It is also quite quiet compared to other flaps we have had and lets far less draught in. It was simple to install. It may look expensive but once you start totting up batteries for keys and catflap, spare IR/EM keys, etc. it is cost effective as you do not need any of these. You need to run this off the mains to get all the facilities of this and of course your cat has to have a microchip! BTW Petporte is now owned by/owns Reilor who make the Staywell catflaps and have always been v reliable and helpful.

We have had 2 of these cat flaps and have had a problem with the second one not recognising one of our cats even though we have checked the position of his micro chip and it used to work. It is only 6 months old and we have now had to buy a 3rd one as the customer service at Petporte is shocking. They make you carry out very complex testing that goes on and on for weeks and it really feels like they don't want to take responsibility for a problem. They also don't respond on the phone or e mail. As a previous Head of Retail, I am very disappointed at this appalling lack of help and would not recommend this product. The only reason we have wasted money on a 3rd is that it fits the hole in our wall. Try SureFlap.

I don't usually bother with writing reviews but this product has got to be one of the best things I have bought in the last few years !
Having had several different flaps over the years I must say ...
> The build quality is excellent.
> The price is excellent value , it might seem expensive at first glance , but there are No batteries ! (Except one 9v Backup which could last years).
> No collars or id tags / magnets to loose !!! (A collar & magnet will set you back £10 + We got through 5 magnets & collars in six months with our last unit !)
> Easy to install.
> Setup is not at all difficult.
> The night switch works well and is a great addition. (at the push of a button you can keep your cat in at night - automatically opening again at daylight !!)
If this flap stands the test of time than I think it will be hard to beat it !!
