My son is 7 and has been reading the Peter's Railway books as they have been published. He adores them and loves reading them with both Dad and Grandpa.... Dad and Grandpa love them too (and so does mum). He eagerly awaits each new book as it is being written and can't wait for Book 5 in the main series! In the meantime he is really enjoying the "Little Series" and the Smaller books.
This "Little" Peter's Railway book is a wonderful spin off from the main series of books. It is aimed at younger children and is great way to start wee readers on Peter's Railway books..... mind you my son loved the main books from the age of 5.
This book is a wonderful extra for a christmas present.

Hats off again to Chris Vine the author of `Peter's Railway' for yet another stunning train book!!
If you have a child that loves trains then this little book is a must, I cannot recommend it highly enough.
There are two books in the series `Little Peter's Railway' and they don't disappoint, `Christmas Steam' and `Surprise Goods'. Aimed at the 3-6 year market, my 3 year old loved it as much as my eight year old! The pictures are lovely and the stories are perfect.
For anyone not familiar with `Peter's Railway' these little books are a spin off away from the main series of books. In the bigger series books, which are aimed from 6 years plus, tell the beautiful story of a little boy called Peter who builds a miniature railway with his Grandpa between their gardens. The books are beautifully illustrated and the technical information on how it all works is amazing and not forgetting the wonderful story of building and running a miniature railway!!

Just what is needed for children who have been raised on Thomas the Tank Engine, to lead them into the real world with a story with which they can identify. Some simple technical bits which can lead into questions and discussion for the older children. My grandchildren will love it.
