Peter Ward trained as a cameraman with the BBC TV service in their London studios in the late fifties. He worked on most types of BBC programmes before leaving in the seventies to become Head of Cameras at an ITV company. He became active in the Guild of TV Cameramen and became Chairman of the Guild in 1992. Ward wrote many articles on camerawork for the Guild's magazine Zerb and began lecturing world-wide and writing camerawork text books. He has written ten camerawork manuals for Focal Press and for five years was editor of their Media Manual series. He is currently writing a History of UK Camerawork and the Guild.
