Peter Sellers will always remain an enigma. Even he didn't really know who he was. This is a terrific book filled with alot of great pictures and stories from Peter Sellers' life. Although, it has been reported on many books and by many people that he was a monster to work with, the story spends very little time wallowing in all of Mr. Sellers' tragedy's and more on his acting. Probably the best story in the book is about how he got the author of "Being There" to finally let him make a movie version of the book and what he did to make the executives give him more money during filming. Although, sad in some parts the title of this book "Peter Sellers: A Celebration" certainly fits. It's a book celebrating a man who by every means could be mad, but at the same time was an absolute genius.

Many nice stories and pictures.

It says somewhere in the book that Sellers was only happy when he could hide within a character. Well he sure made us viewers happy with all these hidings.

While I generally enjoy more watching the films and devour the commentaries and outtakes, most of the Sellers' movies don't excel in them and this book does offer some replacement.

For example, the elevator fart scene in Revenge of the Pink Panther (1:21) is told to have more than 25 takes taken since Sellers couldn't stop corpsing whenever Blake Edwards blew a raspberry, and in the final take that made it to the film Sellers is seen turning to the back wall just to hide his failure to get hold on himself.

It's already much more funny to watch this scene after having read that info.

Many other gems and insights. Highly recommended.
