It’s hard to remember a comedian that’s enjoyed anything like the far-reaching success of Peter Kay in recent years. A best-selling autobiography, writing and directing hit television shows, and a comedy tour that broke records are just some of his achievements, and there’s a strong flavour of what makes him so popular on this Stand Up Ukay DVD.

The disc is effectively a greatest hits collection of his stand-up comedy routines, apparently chosen by the British public. So therefore Stand Up Ukay brings together some hilarious work: Hob Nobs in the your tea, how people dance at weddings and the infamous garlic bread are examples of some of the material here. The disc is then rounded out with the music video to "I’m Gonna Be" (500 Miles).

Without doubt, Stand Up Ukay is a DVD packed with laughs, but conversely, there’s little getting away from the fact that it’s full of material that the majority will have seen and enjoyed before. That some of it is making its third appearance on a DVD release does sour the taste a little, too.

Still, if you’ve missed out what all the fuss about, then Stand Up Ukay is an excellent starting point. Everyone else is best being a little more cautious. --Simon Brew

1.0 out of 5 stars Flogging a dead horse! 15 Nov 2007
By GH1980
I honestly cant believe Peter Kay has the bare faced cheek to release this DVD. I fell for the last rehash DVD of old material in a new wrapper which really annoyed me, so to do it again is beggars believe!

I WAS a big fan of his, not anymore. If he ever does release new material i doubt i will buy it and I'm sure a lot of his fans feel the same about his obvious cashing in!

1.0 out of 5 stars what a con 17 Nov 2007
If you have seen the brilliant Peter Kay at Albert Hall and the Blackpool Tower one then don't bother getting this at all- NO NEW STUFF. If you haven't seen either of his stand ups then still don't get this, instead get the box set of Albert Hall and Blackpool as they show you the whole stand up rather than just the 'best bits' in this joke. If no-one buys this then it might teach Peter a lesson and persuade him to actually do a bit of work and make some new material.

1.0 out of 5 stars Jammers 29 Nov 2007
By Jammers
Sorry, I have to join the 1 star club. Does Kay not have any decent marketing people? I think this is a disater for him. He is a popular comedian who has the nerve to relaunch material and upset his fans. Kay is a master of delivery that enables him to get away with weaker material, this means he's funny first time but when a DVD comes out with rehashed material it's about as funny as the c...
Get back on the road Kay, if you are the talent we once thought you were then you should be able to come with new material rather than asking for the 1000th time who drinks red pop? and who's ever breathed air etc...

1.0 out of 5 stars OH... MY... GOD! 28 Nov 2007
By Mike JB
OH... MY... GOD!

I am a HUGE fan of Peter's. I've met him 1/2 dozen times and been to five of his stand up gigs. THIS however is a complete disgrace I'm sorry to say (and yes, I have seen this DVD). I thought the M.E.N. DVD was a bit of a rip off at the time (different from the Albert Halls DVD only in that there were extras) but this is in a different league altogether; it is complete rubbish! Ancient clips cobbled together with members of the public (hand picked superfans by the look of them!) making very predictable comments.

This is simply an exercise in ripping off fans for CASH, CASH, CASH! Sorry Peter, but I can only assume your money grabbing management talked you into giving the OK on this pile of doggy-doo :(

1.0 out of 5 stars Who is this DVD aimed at?.......... 21 Nov 2007
....I assume it's anyone who hasn't heard of and therefore seen any of Peter Kay's other DVDs...... which is a very small audience by now.

Well done money grabbing publishing right owners for releasing a DVD that deliberately avoids admitting on the back cover that it is a shameless "cheap-to-make cash-in" of previously released material mixed with interviews with people who probably now wish that they hadn't agreed to be interviewed.See-through deception and very cynical.

I hope Peter had nothing to do with this release..... and i hope he realises how it's damaging his reputation as a result.

He's a brilliant comedian. This smells of a "bad management" decision to me.

"My Mum wants a Bungalow" tour was ironic, this is NOT!

i would have rated it -10 stars if that was possible. as a BIG Kay fan my daughter bought me this dvd for xmas, i watched it with utter disbelief to realise it was nothing but a con or to put it straight a CASH-IN by the Kay management. just take a look mr Kay at all the people you have upset just on amazon alone. chubby brown even manages to release new material every year - hats off to him. i respected you and thought you would do one better for your public than this tripe. i even emailed your website complaining about this dvd BUT GOT IGNORED as it seems all your site is about is cashing in on your fame. why dont you try to open a forum so you can interact with your customers like cannon and ball have done. anyway well done peter i think you have finally nailed the coffin doing this and the british public are not stupid. goodbye. PS: i want my money back for this rubbish.

Once, not so long ago there was actually a funny comedian called Peter Kay, now in recent years he has written some top notch stuff in the past in the form of Pheonix nights and such like. Now that i have bought this cd i actually now refuse to call peter a comedian at all...

What this DVD contains is an EXACT copy of his Bolton albert halls dvd, all the same old REALLY tired jokes are here including the INCREDIBLY over used Garlic bread routine along with alot of other dreary "jokes".

There is just absolutely no excuse for selling a dead horse to the public, this is a real con and shows how lazy Peter has become. They should have called this DVD "Peter sells you a dead horse Vol 3"..

Get your act together!!
