Amazon Verified Purchase
The problem I have with this book is that it is a directory of AA inspected premises which claim to be pet-friendly, but the properties do not seem to have been independently accessed by the AA in terms of pet-friendliness. I resent that some of the hotels in particular have excessive or hidden charges for dogs and/or draconian terms and conditions relating to pets (some even have a weight limit on the dogs they are prepared to tolerate!). As a responsible dog owner myself, I accept that accommodation which makes a reasonable charge for dogs can still be described as pet-friendly, but I believe that quite a few of the entries do not make any effort to be pet-friendly at all and are just trying to gain the benefit of cheap advertising. I suppose the guide is a good starting point for finding accommodation, but it is a pity that the true pet-friendly places get lost amongst the rest. The AA should in the future inspect and grade the premises in terms of how pet-friendly they are, and then perhaps dog owners would not be left to do a lot of the legwork themselves.

This is a well established list of places to take your dog on holiday. I felt it was most concise in its description of both accommodation and surrounding area. The plus was also to include the pub friendly hostelries too ....great!!

very useful, but I would like to see a book for areas that included pet friendly pubs, restuarants,snack bars,parks gardens etc as these seem to be very hard to come by, but are very much needed or you have no idea where you can take your pet once you find a place to stay.
