Sadly, I find the Kindle version of this book utterly useless. I had thought that the search facility would be an advantage, but it comes up with too many hits for each search term, and the layout makes it very difficult or impossible to see the differences between them (as in a normal index). The content is good - will get the new print edition.

There are lots of high scoring reviews for the paper version of this book. I've just downloaded the Kindle version to my laptop. I was going to give it 5 stars but then realised that a lot of the the colour plates are missing.
The extra advantages of the Kindle book are the searchability and the ability to quickly use the built-in dictionary for unfamiliar terms.
Searching: you can search for a term and quickly see where it appears, in what context, even in the separate photo section. It's much faster to find a pest or plant than it would be looking in a book's index, then looking at each referenced page in turn. The quality of the photos isn't great but that may be true of the paper version too.

When the next edition comes out in March 2013 I may get that as a paper book as well, as it will be easier to refer to when walking around our plant nursery, but for use in the office this kindle version is great.
