Product Description

Product Description

When a mouse enters the electronic mouse killer and negotiates its way towards the bait, it reaches a point where it touches the electrically charges metal plates. This action completes an electrical circuit which kills the mouse instantly. A warning light will activate to indicate a capture. The four AA-size batteries required to run the device (not included) provide enough power to eradicate up to 50 mice. before the warning light signals that the batteries need replacing. Full instructions for use are provided. This product is safe to use around children and pets (non rodent).

    By Mr C
I have used both these mouse killer units and the larger, more expensive electronic rat killer / zapper type units advertised elsewhere on Amazon and Ebay. I don't currently have a mouse problem but have a relative of mine who recently needed a few mice gotten rid of quickly from her home. First we tried the electronic mouse unit in combination with poison. This was not really effective as a solution - only one kill over several weeks with evidence of the odd mouse or two still remaining. In desperation rather than expectation we bought the larger electronic rat killer, after reading customer reviews which said that it was very effective against mice. Within the first two days of use, we had a couple of kills with the larger electronic rat killer and have had no sign of any more mice since. The bigger unit also has the advantage that there is no need to handle or even see the mouse body when disposal. I would advise spending the extra 10 or so (including p and p) and getting a rat killer / zapper unit instead of the mouse killer unit as the bigger unit is simply more effective and convenient. I guess the mice more readily wander into the rat killer unit than the mouse version because of the bigger entry hole, and get nailed due to the larger kill plates. The electronic rat killer is probably more humane than the smaller mouse unit too as it gives the mouse a more powerful zap! Not very economic mind....

5.0 out of 5 stars Good hit rate so far! 6 Nov 2011
    By tez
Seems to be mixed reviews here so thought I would share my own experience with this item.

I live in a 100 year old farmhouse so mice are constantly a problem for me but recently it seems to have become more of a problem, normally there is only evidence of them in the kitchen but I have noticed other areas of the house showing signs of mouse activity.

I've tried the plug in mouse repellers but in all honesty they're just a gimmick and simply do not work. I purchased one of these electronic killer units as Im sick of having the back breaker traps go off as I am positioning them. I picked one of these up from my local hardware store, I paid twice as much as the amazon price too :( I must admit I was skeptical about my purchase but other than the sticky/glue paper traps (and I just dont like the idea of that stuff) there was nothing else to choose from and things were getting desperate.

I popped in 4 duracell ultra batteries and a small piece of kit-kat chunky. When you first set the trap you must make sure the green light comes on briefly, you'll hear a short buzzing presumably as the internal capacitor charges up (as a safety mechanism this will not happen if you have the cover open so make sure it is shut properly before switching on). I placed the device tight against the wall in a location that I know the mice frequent regularly.

I went out for a few hours and came back to see the green light flashing, indicating that a mouse had been killed. To my delight as I picked up the device I could tell by the weight that there was a mouse in there and sure enough, I opened the lid to find one dead mouse. I emptied the device, reset it and positioned it in exactly the same place, came back to it literally 10 minutes later and the light was flashing again.

I worked out how to improve the baiting. The instructions just say to put some peanut butter or something at the inside end of the trap. This caught nothing for months. Then I figured out that a mouse would be a bit nervous of making its way all the way in. So I put little tasters at the entrance, and on the edge of each of the inner chicanes. Hey presto, the trap suddenly started killing them regularly.

So sorry to all the wee sleekit cowrin' timorous beasties. I'm not scared of them. But the girlfriend is. And I'm scared of her. So the weakest links in the chain have to suffer. That's life.

    5.0 out of 5 stars A very humane kill 19 Oct 2007
I don't want to kill mice, if they didn't spread their waste around my kitchen surfaces I would leave them alone but I have a ten month old baby crawling everywhere and when he picked up a mouse poo I knew they had to go! I tried live catch mousetraps and they kept coming back. I received the electronic mousetrap last night and by this morning two mice were dead. It is an excellent product that delivers a quick and humane kill, the last thing the mice knew was the taste of peanut butter. I would definately recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well 30 Mar 2008

A bit worried about some of the negative reviews for this little machine - but in my attic it works well, four mice in the first few weeks. Preferable, in my opinion, to the old spring trap in that this gives a cleaner kill - in the old one I sometimes had sad and messy results. No, killing mice is not my favourite occupation, but if you have to do it you better do it properly - and that is what this does.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I expected 6 April 2008
Started off well enough and killed 11 mice in a row. Then it just stopped working, even though I replaced the batteries. Is it worth 25 to kill ~11 mice? Could have been of better quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 Jan 2011
Well, where do I start. I can't thank the designers of this item enough. I like many people out there absolutely HATE mice. When I discovered the pests had been partying in my kitchen I set out on a mission to get rid of them. I tried the standard traps, glue traps and the plug in things. It was all a waste of money as they didn't work.
I bought the electronic mouse killer. As instructed I peanut butter in the trap and left it over night and it worked. within the week it killed 6 mice and now my house is mouse FREE. I would definately recommend this product. Its brilliant.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to rate - perhaps it depends on one's mice
It has not actually caught any mice perhaps our mice have taken the message that they are not wanted though because they seem to have gone.

Just doesn't work!! The bait is not attracting the rodents into the trap, although they are taking similar bait from conventional humane traps
