In the interests of full disclosure I should point out that I'm quoted, with permission, in this book on page 111 - even if I wasn't, I'd still review it and give it a high score.
If you're new to the art of persuasion or know a bit about it but want a handy guide to the really useful stuff then this book is incredibly useful. The techniques are effective, easy to use and easy to understand.
Tony has a lovely way of writing and he explains things really well. If you're after a really academic look at persuasion with long complicated paragraphs about how everything works then I can't say this book will fulfill your needs. However, if you're looking for something you can pick up, open and use quickly then this is brilliant.

Stuffed full of juicy little tips and interesting ideas that anyone can quickly use in all areas of their lives. Whether you want to sell more, improve communications with customers, suppliers, family or friends, I am sure you will find what you need here. It's the kind of book you can 'whizz' through - the language is easy - the pace is brisk - and it's fun to read. It also gives you genuine and easy-to-use tools that you can adapt to any situation. Tony has a really approachable style and it feels more like a conversation with a friend than a 'how to'. Get copies for everyone you talk to!!

Tony's book contains some nuggets of information which are quite useful in some situations. I had read about some of the tips elsewhere, like The Magic Touch and a special word to enable one to jump a queue for the photocopier.
If you've read How To Win Friends And Influence People, you'll recognise some of the techniques and principles used, for example 'The Secret of Socrates' and using a person's name to influence them.
My problem with this book is that there is so much that doesn't pertain to me, such as running a charity, wanting a load of 'hits' on Facebook, and getting a seven year old to tidy their room.
This doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad book; it is concise and to the point, with reminders at the end of each chapter, so this book may be for you.
