Product Description

Format: Vinyl LP album. Claddagh Records, Irish release from 1990. Folk and world music from accordion player Mairtin O'Connor. 13 tracks. This LP was part of a large collection of folk music LPs from the estate of a retired music journalist who loved folk music. The majority of these LPs are traditional Celtic roots folk music, with many being psych folk rock. Many are original first or early pressings and in near mint or excellent condition, they appear to be little played or spare copies.

This album was first released in 1990. It was actualy the second cd I ever bought during the transition from vinyl

I recently bough another copy of it when I discovered I had lost the original

Of course having bought it agin I was compelled to give it a thorough airing and boy what joy. From the mesmerising finger work of the title track to the more mellow tracks such as carnival in Venice and midnight on the water this cd is just a collection of musical gems. The beauty is that even for the most limited of accordian players such as I, the slower tracks can be played along to with relish

The only problem with this playing along was that I thought I was alone in the house and had almost convinced myself I could be in Mairtin's band when i realised my teenage son was watching through the window. My enthusiastic accompaniment of midnight on the water was met with ridicule and hilarity. Never mind. Even if you don't own an accordian (and I know I shouldn't)go and buy this wonderful cd
