A guide to Parisian cemeteries 31 Jan. 2013

I had previously bought this book for myself several years ago, and I recently purchased a copy for someone who is going to Paris for the first time this spring. If you like cemeteries--and I do--this is a must have. It lists many, many people buried in various cemeteries in Paris, complete with biographical information about them as well as photos of their graves. After reading several entries, I actually wanted to see the graves of some people I had not previously known. When a friend and I went to Paris, this was our guide. We'd find the graves we definitely wanted to see and use the book as a map. Like I said, I love cemeteries, and we spent over four hours at Pere Lachaise alone, plus we made trips to several other cemeteries. You can buy maps at Pere Lachaise, but not at the other ones; so this guide was worth every penny I paid for it. If you want to see some offbeat places--and have the time to do it--this guide is for you.

Dated but informative 14 Dec. 2010

It's surprising how little seems to be available on the cemeteries of Paris. Such a wonderful trove of people and their stories. This book is a very good glimpse into the places that are little recognized as the best way to start a tour of the history of France and Europe.
A magical book 4 May 2014
