If you like klezmer this is a must. Itzhak Perlman is the master of his instrument and is always a delight to hear whatever music he plays. Klezmer music is the soul of Jewish society and who better to interpret it than the master himself?
You will not be disappointed! The video is particularly poignant.

Warning - In the Fidler's House Re-release 6 Oct. 2010
By Bill Allcorn - Published on
Format: Audio CD
A word of warning: this 2-CD set appears to be a re-release of the "In the Fiddler's House" and "Live in the Fiddler's House" CDs. I like both those CDs and I'm sure this one is fine also, but I wouldn't buy it if you have the originals.

Glimpse into a great musician's learning process and experience joyous music 26 Oct. 2010
By Jane Humphrey - Published on
Format: Audio CD
Listening to the music on the CDs was a joyful experience but I truly loved the DVD included in the set.
It deepened for me the historical perspective of this music as it was experienced here in the states. I enjoyed but wanted more of the tiny glimpse into the Klezmer experience in the old country where Klezmer is said to have been born. As a student of many arts, I esp. liked observing how Mr. Perlman, a serious and well trained musician, deepened his understanding about Klezmer.
This DVD is for anyone who loves beautiful music and or Jazz.....
For anyone with a Jewish or Polish background,it will deepen and change your experience when you hear a great many performances.

Legendary Violinist Plays Jewish Folk Music 6 Sept. 2013
By Carbon-12 - Published on
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
This is a great buy. This product includes 2 CDs, "In the Fiddler's House" and "Live in the Fiddler's House", and a DVD, "In the Fiddler's House". It is much cheaper than buying the 3 discs separately. The DVD is an hour-long program showing Itzhak Perlman visiting New York City and Krakow, Poland to learn about klezmer music. Perlman discusses the cultural heritage of klezmer and how the music animates its audiences. He meets many musicians and learns to participate in this tradition that he knew in his youth. The program can be quite touching, such as when Perlman laments the diminished Jewish presence in Poland. After absorbing a bit of culture and history from the DVD, you can enjoy 2 CDs filled with great music. If you like klezmer or Itzhak Perlman, or both, I highly recommend this package deal.
Outstanding example of Yiddish/Eastern Europian folk music. 8 Jun. 2014

This CD/DVD combination became, for me, an introduction into klezmer music and a witness to Perlman's return to his roots. It's
also a statement of Itzhak Perlman's humility.

Wonderful music played by a master of the violin and other truly amazing artists. One can't help wanting to dance to it. I bought a second copy for my Daughter.
