Of the 3 historic guitarists who emerged from the Yardbirds in the 60's, Jeff has remained the single most innovative of the lot. There is no denying Clapton's expansive catalog and enormous talent. In his time, Jimmy Page was also one of rock's greats. Having seen Jeff's most recent tour a couple months ago, it is apparent that his style and technique are his and his alone. This DVD was recorded 2-3 years ago and serves as a testament to Jeff's recent return to prominence. Do yourself a favor. Buy this DVD, crank it up and you will be blown away.

In late 2007 Jeff Beck enthralled and captivated London music fans during a series of spellbinding concerts at the revered Ronnie Scott's Jazz venue. He brilliantly executed instrumentals that covered jazz fusion, blues, hard rock and electronica genres. Highlights included the poignant and nonpareil "Where Were You," the emotive "Angel (Footsteps)," the riveting "Beck's Bolero," the astounding "Blast From The East," the searing "Scatterbrain," and the exotic "Nadia". His amazing and climactic "A Day In The Life," has rightfully been nominated for a Grammy Award for best instrumental performance. Jeff Beck can coax and summon a universe of sounds from his guitar without using hardly any effects. His whammy bar magic and plethotra of tones are incomparable. His fingers and fretboard are hardwired to his heart and soul. Even though playing guitar is not a competition, Jeff Beck plays better than everyone. Special guest appearances by Eric Clapton, Joss Stone and Imogen Heap further enhanced this must buy DVD. Jeff Beck is the paramount UK guitar icon.

My expectations were high when I purchased this dvd. I have been a fan of Jeff Beck since I stumbled over "Jeff Becks Guitarshop" back in 1989. Beck's approach to the instrument and the music is so free of "pretending". As an artist he is uncompromising and he has - among a frightening number of other levels of artistic talent - the rare ability of being able to turn a cliché into art at the highest level. He knows his rock n'roll to the core as well as jazz and numerous other forms of soundly expressions including roaring engines! Becks musical presence in the dvd is truely amazing and of course his fabulous band makes this dvd even more a "must have". To give you an idea if you might share my enthusiasm my taste in music includes: Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Steeve Vai, King Crimsom, Pink Floyd, Kenny Burrel, Wes Montgommery, 22 Pistepirko, Robben Ford, The Bug, David Lee Roth, David Bowie, U2...I think you are on to me by now. Enjoy!
