This is a review of the edition of Lovers' Vows put out by General Books -- it's not a review of the play itself. On Amazon General Books' edition is listed as publisher unknown, but the book has a beige cover with super-bold black lettering. This edition has been typeset with OCR (Optical Character Recognition), printed on demand and not proofread (the publishers state in a disclaimer that they don't proofread). The play is unreadable. This is a speech from one of the characters (page 27):
"I with Jto-pkad. for two young men For I I 1 "' ' j "-r ii in.1 I u one, that he may be let out of pnfon:.."
It goes on in the same vein. I'm sending it back and buying a non-OCR edition elsewhere. The play itself looks rather fun -- the bits I could make out.

Das Kind der Liebe - umistakebly German, though translated excellently into English. I wanted to read this because it features in Mansfield Park, and for no other reason. Shocked audience thoroughly at its time of publishing, but that didn't stop Jane Austen. If you're one of those people who is easily shocked by this sort of thing, don't read it . To do so would be to dishonour the play, so quite simply don't. The same goes if you're not a very discreet person; don't bother annoying people around you with your loud and squeaky voice, proclaiming that it is 'SO TOTALLY RUDE'. If you read this, don't comment on it. Don't tell anybody you're reading it. Keep it all to yourself and let the tale of love wash over you, consume with a fiery passion to shout mout the story to the world. But don't - tell the world, that is. Keep it to yourself until you can log back on to Amazon, write your own review and say you found this one helpful.
