3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 12 Feb 2004
By
M. HAMMOND (Bournemouth, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Performance Testing .NET Applications (Hardcover)
As the other reviewer says, performance testing is an important subject, but this book doesn't really do the subject justice.

It doesn't really offer anything that the MSDN Library and a bit of experience and common sense won't have taught you already.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good coverage of a topic not discussed widely enough, 24 Oct 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Performance Testing .NET Applications (Hardcover)
Performance analysis and tuning is a very important topic, and one that gets very little coverage in paper. This book is a welcome bookshelf addition, covering all the major Microsoft tools, and a few non-Microsoft ones. As well as instructions on installing and using the tools, there are lots of tips on finding performance problems and how to address them.

Incidentally, there's been a recent title change: it's "Performance _Testing_ Microsoft .NET Applications" not "Performance Tuning..."

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST PERFORMANCE TESTING BOOK AROUND, 18 Oct 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Performance Testing .NET Applications (Hardcover)
I've recently had an opportunity to read Microsoft ACE Team's ... book "Performance Testing Microsoft .NET Web Applications" and would highly suggest this book to anyone who is looking to find performance bugs or increase performance on your teams web applications. The book is well written, gives real world examples, explains the most common bottlenecks in different areas and how to detect them (disks, network, web tier, sql tier, etc) and has a great section on how TCA works. ... I highly recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Practical Advice on Load Testing using ACT, 4 Jan 2003
By ConsumerAdvocate - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Performance Testing .NET Applications (Hardcover)
This books contains information about using ACT that I couldn't find in other documentation. It also contains practical advice for how to structure load tests and how to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only but Best Book I have seen, 5 Dec 2003
By Tareq Muhammed - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Performance Testing .NET Applications (Hardcover)
This is the First book that discuss testing web application using Microsoft ACT (which I find not the best testing tool, see Astra Load Test, it is perfect).
the book will divide the testing to phases and tiers, for example it dicusses how to optimized and find bottle neck in web tier (ASP.net Code), managed code and SQL server.

I didn't find anther book that discuss "Stress Testing ASP.net" application.

The will tell you how the found the "Memory Leakage" and they will tell you their exprience in finding problems with web sites.

If you r intented to "know" how to stress test you application, buy this book now
