I found this book to be a very easily understandable and straighforward introduction to what many authors have made to be a dry and lifeless concept. The author not only writes in a reader friendly style but sets PM in an appropriate context which helps to explain why many of the systematic rituals associate with PM have had little success in creating sustainable organisational improvements. I enjoyed reading this book and have already recommended it to two other people I know.

This book over simplifies performance management, focusing only on the 'golden thread' aspect of planning and undertaking appraisals. Ok if that's what you are interested in but if you want a wider perspective, this book does not provide it.

I have learned greatly from this book. It increase my knownledge greatly. Upon many researches on the internet and articles, nothing could compare to Performance Management by Robert Bacal.
