Book Description

Helen Grey is finally getting everything she wants. She’s about to have the perfect dream wedding and begin an exciting new life abroad on the sunny Mediterranean island of Cyprus. But living the dream isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

After a mix-up at the airport, Helen finds herself drawn into the midst of an elaborate plot to steal an ancient statue and assassinate a local businessman. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, her wedding dress is AWOL, the statue seems to be cursed, and Helen is wanted by the police.

With the big day rapidly approaching, a roller-coaster of mishaps, misunderstandings, and disasters threatens to turn the newlyweds into nearlyweds.

Can Helen prevent an assassination, save the statue, and have the perfect wedding? Or will the day to remember turn into one she’d rather forget?

This is technically the sequel to Fourteen Days Later but could be read as a standalone book. This time around Helen is on her way to Northern Cyprus with Kamen for a few days of rest and relaxation before her dream wedding. Only for Helen (being somewhat of a magnet for bad luck) it doesn't quite go to plan and it just gets worse from there...

This was hysterically funny. Helen once again lurches from one disaster to another, somehow finding herself in the process. It was lovely to be reacquainted with familiar characters. Once again the story rocketed along, and with the vivid descriptions of Northern Cyprus, I felt like I was there with them. It was a real page turner and I read almost all of it in one day. The ending was fabulous and just perfect for the story.

If you have read Fourteen Days Later you will love this. Even if you haven't you will love this. It is a nice light funny read that no one can help but to enjoy.

First I fell in love with Sibel's Amber Fox books, then thought, although a little different, I would give Helen Grey a go and man am I glad I did!
I won't go into the plot too much as it's all there in the description but enough to say the characters are utterly loveable and more importantly, believable. The descriptions of North Cyprus make you want to get on a plane and check it out for yourself. The plot is fab, keeping you wondering what's going to happen next and not at all predictable.

I'd definitely recommend this book and would also recommend that you read 14 days later first as it gives some great background to the characters.

I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.

Helen and Kalem are headed to Cyprus for their wedding and to start their new life abroad, but there are nothing but obstacles from the very first page, due to their love of practical jokes. Due to a baggage mix up at the airport, they become embroiled in a plot to assassinate a hotel owner, and steal a precious statue. This is all against the backdrop of Helen wondering if she can give up her city dwelling life for the "perfect," simple existence in Cyprus, and wondering if her wedding dress will ever show up.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this book, not knowing anything about Cyprus, but I was soon hooked, and couldn't put it down, reading it in a day! It certainly cheered up a grey winter day for me!
I didn't know there was another book before this book before I read it, but I am certainly going to read it now! Chick lit at its' best!

I found the main character, Helen, an endearing, yet at times frustrating (even infuriating) character. She's a smart and successful woman, yet she continually makes shortsighted and obviously incorrect decisions. In addition, her luck is so terrible that even somewhat harmless thing still backfire. Helen and her fiancé haven't made it on their plane in the first chapter before security is detaining them as suspected terrorists due to a couple practical jokes gone wrong.

The other main characters also add spice to the story. Helen's fiancé, Kaleem, alternates between a foil for Helen's questionable actions and a partner in crime. Kaleem's uncle appears to be a Mediterranean Redneck, but eventually showed I'd underestimated him. Kaleem's parents are sick in their hotel room most of the book, yet provide an ongoing joke regarding the number of condoms they're using. We've got a few villains, some friends of the couple-to-be, and even some celebrities round out what would be described as an ensemble cast were this a TV show.

After the airport episode, things continue going downhill for Helen. There is mystery, suspense, a touch of terror, and plenty of chances to shake your head and laugh while saying, "Helen, what are you thinking?"

How you'll react to My Perfect Wedding is largely dependent on your sense of humor. If you prefer something sly and subtle that sneaks up on you this might sometimes seem too over-the-top. For many of us, it's full of laughs.

I have just finished My Perfect Wedding and have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the third book I have read by Sibel Hodge and I do find her books very well written. This is the sequel to Fourteen Days Later and I had to read it to see what happens to the heroine Helen Grey. These are two very funny books.
My Perfect Wedding sees Helen about to marry Kalem, who she fell in love with in Fourteen Days Later. They are getting married in North Cyprus where they intend to settle down and live the dream life. Unfortunately, with Helen being a walking disaster zone, things don't go according to plan and once she gets off the plane in Cyprus things start to go wrong. Her suitcase, with her wedding dress, goes missing, she becomes involved in assassination attempts, theft of a valuable statue and kidnapping. This may sound far fetched but actually it is written in such a way that it all seems very believable and could happen to anyone. As I said I found this book very funny and if you want something light and easy to read that will cheer you up, I recommend it.
