From Amazon.co.uk

In Perfect Stranger, ace New York Courier reporter Rowena Price (Halle Berry) will do anything to get her story---even if it verges on the unethical. After her plans to out a US senator's homosexual relationship with an intern are thwarted, Price's next chance at a big scoop falls right into her lap. When her friend Grace (Nicky Lynn Aycox) is found murdered, the main suspect is revealed to be Harrison Hill (Bruce Willis), a philandering high-powered advertising exec with a very jealous wife.

With some help from her right-hand tech guru, Miles (Giovanni Ribisi), Rowena goes undercover as a temp at Hill's agency, where her own good looks are bound to draw Hill closer to her, taking her to the facts behind Grace's murder. No simple plot description can truly explain James Foley's (At Close Range) twisty, techy thriller. It begins with a false set-up, takes a whole other route, and makes a series of bizarre 11th hour revelations that not even the most seasoned viewer would predict. The always watchable Berry makes us root for a character whose methods aren't always the most scrupulous, and Giovanni Ribisi does a lot with the 'sidekick' role. Anastas Michos's cinematography gives Manhattan a slightly sinister glow of cool blue, appropriate to this tale in which nothing is what it seems, and trusting in someone is sure to cause regret---or worse. Perfect Stranger may occasionally defy logic, but that is not likely to deter those hungering for a handsomely made, star-fuelled studio film with plenty of surprises.

I almost didn't watch this movie due to the bad reviews here on Amazon. I'm so glad I did watch it.

This movie is about an investigative reporter, played by Berry, and high profile advertising executive, played by Willis. The plot is very well paced with no lagging moments and was seamlessly acted by the cast.

This is not the usual, predictable woman in jeopardy type movie. Predictability would have made it a complete yawn fest. Instead, the plot takes off relentlessly and culminates in a twist that will blow your mind. Also, there is more than one secret being kept. I can't say more as it might ruin the experience for future viewers.

Grab yourself a copy of this brilliant thriller.

4.0 out of 5 stars Average and trite 24 April 2010
Format:DVD
It is difficult to speak about this film without spoiling any kind of pleasure because the suspense of this thriller is all contained in the several last minute revelations. Let say that The logic of the story is as simple as simple can be. A child who sees a crime will be traumatized for life and will become either a blackmailer or a criminal, according to the degree of involvement in the initial crime. Then the best cover up for your perversions is to become a journalist that will discover and publicize the little secrets of the powerful. And if the powerful you are targeting have no little secrets, then just build some for them and you may even send them to prison in your place, if you are swift enough. In other words there is only mud and manure in this world and those who carry most of it are those who expose others, and at times without any basis at all, just out of spite and jealousy, or fear and vengeance. The film is rather well done though it is not in any way outstanding.

Good plot well acted, lovely scenery. Halle Berry as always acted well and looked even better. The ending was surprising and perhaps a little far fetched but did not detract from what was a gripping film.

This tanked in America and went straight to DVD in Britain, so I assumed it must be really bad. Well it certainly isn't great, but it's not as terrible as I expected.

It plods along without any interesting set pieces, action scenes or memorable moments. And the characters are sketchily drawn. Though there is something comfortably middle of the road about it that I found to be agreeable, and it has a silly, almost logical twist ending that packs an interesting punch. It's one of the few twist endings that works.

On a cinema screen it might seem a bit too much like a TV movie so I can see how it might not work at all on the big screen. On a TV though, this unthrilling thriller is acceptable entertainment. If you watch things like Law and Order and read trashy bestseller crime novels then this should float your boat.

Tried to keep you guessing and did have a twist but to be honest very formulaic and a little predictable. Watchable but not memorable!
