I read this novel in two sittings and laughed out loud, which for me is no mean feat. Laurie Graham's novels are fresh and unpretentious and 'Perfect Meringues' is a must for anyone who enjoys the satirical humour of Victoria Wood. The pace is unrelenting and the humour never flags for one monent, leading the reader to a triumphant and glorious conclusion. An enviable achievement.

From the start this is a sharply observed and wittily written story of a single mother trying to hold her life and loves together in the sharp elbowed world of local morning television. There are so many laugh out loud lines that I eventually had to stop reading them to my husband before I just read out the whole book. If you do one thing tomorrow buy this and enjoy the humour.
