3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better, 20 Oct 2008
I was looking forward to reading this book, and then I found out about Ben's illness and the story hit a nerve. The portrayal of Diamomd Blackfan Anaemia was disappointing, as a DBA patient myself I felt that the author had not conducted enough research in order to give the story justice.

In parts it was melodramatic, and in others simply too blase. The actual storyline was well written and was thought provoking, if a little far fetched.

I was so disappointed that my personal experience ruined what would have been an excellent book, and I felt a little hard done by that what I feel is the most important aspect of the story, the PGD followed by the stem cell transplant, was rarely touched upon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking but great read..., 8 Aug 2008

I have read all of Jane Moores book and I found this one the most thought provoking (thinking about what I would do in this situation)- it really could happen....
It is quite an unusual plot, but I do love the ways she incorporates the politicians into the story....and this is really interesting just to see how they react to a breaking story, what a spin they put on things.
I really really enjoyed this book and read it fairly quickly on holiday, it is a great read and yet again Jane Moore has come up with a winner. Make sure you read all of her other books..

4.0 out of 5 stars A different read, 4 Jan 2009

I have never read Jane Moore before and to be honest it was the cover that pulled me in. The story turned out to be something completely different and I was not expecting this type of story.

A really different type of story which was very easy to read and interesting. The only thing that could have been improved was the ending as I thought it ended a little flat. However I would now probably read another Jane Moore book.
